  • LessThanLiz Less Than Liz (@LessThanLiz) reported from Ashburn Village, Virginia

@jrhuddles @verge Every time a boomer asks if I want my online history held against me, they are likely talking about stupid things I probably said, but I think back to my Geocities FF7 fansite (lots of copyright infringement, I'm sure) and being accused of god-moding in an AOL Marvel Sim chat.

@WSBChairman Does this remind anyone of the AOL stock picking chat rooms of the mid-late 1990s? I think my csco is still down 20% after buying at the peak on that chat room chatter. But this time is different...

Did you guys ever chat in those RPG chat rooms on AOL? I used to love that ****.

@SpeakerPelosi Rep. Chip Roy is a garbage individual who is whining about AOC. Ignore him. AOL was threatened with murder and these snowflakes are whining?

  • naynerz Ranee Soundara (@naynerz) reported

@dougboneparth @AdamSinger Exactly. When you moderate your first IRC room, get duped by catfish on AOL, have an internet bf at 14... or being a blogger from a young age and creepy strangers would appear from nowhere. You learn **** quick: the internet is not your friend and social media is garbage.

  • jhamby Jake Hamby (@jhamby) reported from Los Angeles, California

It was a mess for AOL in the short term because their customers started complaining about busy signals because of the greatly increased popularity of accessing both AOL and the Internet through their service. As a teenager, I’d cycle between the different services to try them.

  • jamietoomeylive Jamie Toomey (@jamietoomeylive) reported

@mickbirch Bebo was my first and only social network until you sold it, then it just became a Facebook clone, so I left for Facebook. If you can restore it back to that 2006/07 era design, it’ll be the best ever, nostalgia sells, and plus I miss Bebo, the old Bebo that is (prior to AOL)
