@jrhuddles @verge Every time a boomer asks if I want my online history held against me, they are likely talking about stupid things I probably said, but I think back to my Geocities FF7 fansite (lots of copyright infringement, I'm sure) and being accused of god-moding in an AOL Marvel Sim chat.

  • AdamLovesFood Adam Levine (@AdamLovesFood) reported from Chantilly, Virginia

5 Jobs I’ve had: 1. Intern / Mascot @ABC Kidzine on @AOL 2. Catering Staff at countless DC Caterers 3. Founder / Owner of JAM Productions and the Exchange VIPs 4. Sales/Service at @CustomInk 5. All things SEO @Appian

  • Cr8DigitalAsset Christina Haftman (@Cr8DigitalAsset) reported from Fair Oaks, Virginia

@robertoblake I went to college pre internet. We had large computers with floppy disks, DOS command prompt, loud, vibrating dot matrix printers and slow screechy modems. This was before Windows and IE. Before email. Before AOL. Before NETZERO. Before Yahoo Messenger.

  • TheCoachSavage Martino DeSalvaje🔥 (@TheCoachSavage) reported from Ashburn Village, Virginia

AOL Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • BSLabs6 BS Labs (Devoid) (@BSLabs6) reported

@Infosec_Taylor @AlyssaM_InfoSec Before they were AOL, they were Quantum Computer Services. They had an "online" service called Quantum Link, which was initially a C-64 (and C-128) specific service. Before that they were (I think) the first subscription game download service - for the Atari 2600!

  • jus1Don Corleone4 (@jus1Don) reported

@BrokenGamezHDR_ Aw **** I took it waaaaaay back you taking about AOL smmh

  • lauraefinaldi Laura Finaldi (@lauraefinaldi) reported

and 80s but also one that current society has surpassed. In the case of Cyber Monday, the Tomorrowland problem is basically just in its name. What do you think of when you hear the word "cyber"? I think of dial-up internet, Y2K and AOL chat rooms. Just me?

  • weischoice Sonia Weiser (@weischoice) reported

**** Slack. I miss AOL chatrooms

  • HogeyeGrex Hogeye Grex (@HogeyeGrex) reported

@clairecmc Anybody else remember trying to cancel AOL?

  • FightNightVoice Peter Christensen (@FightNightVoice) reported

I found out that I was "old" today. The worst part is that I found out while searching for like minded people in an AOL chatroom.

  • DarkStormX2 FrostySnoBalls 🚒🧑‍🍳🌩️ (@DarkStormX2) reported

I remember when AOL hell was a big thing, The very first thing people would ask you was ASL. I would respond two ways. Look ****** I have a profile I suggest you read it. That's if you can read at all. Or I simply said, "Oh so you're Another **** Licker."

  • ThinkingSapien ThinkingSapien (@ThinkingSapien) reported

@AllterNation @ellymelly AOL had many roles. While ISP is among them, their role of relevance was as an Interactive Computer Service (ICS); they provided a space in which users could post information for others to read. A user was engaged in defamation using these spaces.

  • RealCaptNcrypto Captain Crypto (@RealCaptNcrypto) reported

@Talisman042 I think that if they do not do something fast they will end up becoming the AOL and Nokia of the cryptospace, due to the high gas fees they are losing support on a daily basis and the more developers that switch to Rust(solana code) the more business Eth will lose & not recover.

  • ISpeakMyTruth58 Christine (@ISpeakMyTruth58) reported

@clairecmc I called AOL to cancel my Dad's account after he died . They wanted to know why it was being cancelled, I told them because my Dad, the account holder, had passed away. They then wanted to upgrade him. I said no, he won't need it because he's DEAD. They don't listen, don't care.
