@GovofCO What's horrible is he likes of NBC and AOL making their articles about the shooting all about you and your partner. It should have been about the victims not about your life

  • LPEastPeoria Peorian Refugee ☦️ (@LPEastPeoria) reported

@ClayTravis @nytimes I think AOL Time Warner was the worst merger ever.

  • FreedomDogz Quicklee (@FreedomDogz) reported

@ClayTravis @nytimes AOL worst ever, but this is close second. The key idiots at AT&T still have their jobs!

  • rvkennedy Roderick Kennedy (@rvkennedy) reported

@slukas I imagine that if email hadn't existed prior to the internet we might instead have had a service provided by a single company with lock-in. Don't think there's a good example going from closed to open-platform other than the web itself washing away AOL/Compuserve in the 90s.

  • sonidomacizo 𝗠 𝗔 𝗖 𝗜 𝗭 𝗢 (@sonidomacizo) reported

@SaltyJayyycob In no era was the ability to have access to either cry or see others crying about dumb **** within hands reach 24/7. BBS's had them but no one had BBS's. AOL had them but mom was waiting for a call. Forums had them but still not as easily accessible is this **** we're on now.

  • bchinella ₿it₿ry (@bchinella) reported

@SGBarbour ...then, hopefully, they will fall down the rabbit hole. You could liken it to people using AOL for email.

  • jarod_frye DJ 4/4 Musicman (@jarod_frye) reported

@KierninRhys @WeaponizedRage WB and UPN were started In 1995...As an attempted competitor to FOX. They ate **** and money was never made on the venture...ESPECIALLY For WB who nearly DIED after the AOL Time Warner Merger failed.

  • DKinMN elo is better than the beatles (@DKinMN) reported

The first livestream concert I ever saw was a Counting Crows show on AOL, I believe lowered by RealPlayer. Audio was bad and poorly encoded, and the video was an extremely pixelated slideshow of one picture per 5 seconds that were about 30 seconds behind.

  • barelyamelia Barely Amelia (@barelyamelia) reported

That. Heyladies Slack channel Wild news day already. Verizon buying AOL. Mary Wittenberg stepping down NYRR.

  • AuthorKimberley Kimberley Johnson 🇺🇦 (@AuthorKimberley) reported

I believe Twitter will become a pit. Remember AOL chat rooms? Initially, they were fun. Everyone was friendly and the novelty offered an exciting, new experience. But it didn't take long for them to devolve into the worst humanity has to offer. I see that happening here in time.
