@liturgicalgay 4 points. Never had AOL or MySpace accounts, never used dialup to access the Internet, and I never owned an encyclopedia. (I used dialup, but to access the older Usenet, not Internet. My parents owned the encyclopedia, not I.)

  • Robert_Mills Robert Mills (@Robert_Mills) reported from Dracut, Massachusetts

@megansarahj I had AOL right at the end, but luckily I got out before the damage could move at speeds beyond that of my 14.4K dial-up modem that hogged our only phone line.

@Skycorpinc And went down the same censorious rabbit hole. AOL 2.0 wasn't a good idea, period.

  • bigdaddycrame super cool guy (handsome) (@bigdaddycrame) reported

Remember when you had to zip large files to send them. Now no one gives a **** about file size. I routinely email 40 GB attachments for no good reason other than I can do it. **** you AOL.

  • Satyric Jeremy Bearimy (@Satyric) reported

@thejaymo I’ll retweet for my fellow old people who can maybe help. But I went from local BBSes to college terminals for MUDs, USENET etc. and never had a CS/AOL phase.

  • kclilback KC (@kclilback) reported

@DavidDamato6 @OneMan223 @EBischoff by the Time Eric was ousted , Ted had lost control of his company to AOL/ Time Warner and Harvey Schiller let Eric go and 3 months later Brad Seigal brought eric back but the damage was done cause AOL didn't want to be in the "wrasslin " business and starved WCW financially

  • stuartpb Stuart P. Bentley (@stuartpb) reported

@thejaymo That's shocking to me, because I definitely remember seeing books like this on shelves in the leadup to Y2K... it's possible you might find chapters on AOL in, like, "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Windows 95" or something like that

  • eazeee2004 e.o (@eazeee2004) reported
