@megansarahj I had AOL right at the end, but luckily I got out before the damage could move at speeds beyond that of my 14.4K dial-up modem that hogged our only phone line.

@liturgicalgay 4 points. Never had AOL or MySpace accounts, never used dialup to access the Internet, and I never owned an encyclopedia. (I used dialup, but to access the older Usenet, not Internet. My parents owned the encyclopedia, not I.)

@gchahal @Twitter most of the members here are too young in remembering AOL. Twitter is nothing new in social media fraud. Facebook has the same problem with bots. Someday we may get the damn Government out of owning social media platforms.

Know how Twitter's "Top Tweets" default feed view is awful? Instagram and Facebook are both basically the same thing now, with more suggested posts than actual people you know, showing up. At this point, even old AOL chat rooms are starting to look better actual connections.

not to get too AOL Instant Messager but i've been listening to this song that has a line referring to the singer's baby that goes "I stared at your knees, wondering which one's gonna be the bad one in your 30's" and it's KILLING me, crying and shidding and frowing up

@ThexyBeatht_2 Have an iPhone 12 Pro (work)and Android S22 Ultra (personal), and while it's not a bad phone, the iPhone feels like the AOL of smartphones.
