@megansarahj I had AOL right at the end, but luckily I got out before the damage could move at speeds beyond that of my 14.4K dial-up modem that hogged our only phone line.

@liturgicalgay 4 points. Never had AOL or MySpace accounts, never used dialup to access the Internet, and I never owned an encyclopedia. (I used dialup, but to access the older Usenet, not Internet. My parents owned the encyclopedia, not I.)

@cameron_kasky AOL chat rooms, chain smoking and drinking bad coffee at Denny’s late nights with our fellow outcast friends, wasting time at the mall, going to see bands play in our friend’s parent’s garages. In class we fell asleep or daydreamed or played MASH.

@libertascasii2 @MulattaLoca I was fortunate to grow up with the internet in my 20s.. most folks my age don't have that. Netscape was the big thing around here along with AOL when civilian internet was taking off. Kids now days will never understand the pain of being in a PVP game and getting a phone call.

@kathrynswartz That sucks, I love AV Club. This does not make me feel good about the direction they are going: “Robson, who was hired from a finance publication called the Los Angeles Business Journal and had previously worked at Yahoo! Entertainment, E! Online, and AOL Moviefone”
