I left AOL/HuffPo just before every writer there got blue ticked. I wondered if not having one would affect me or if I should have hung on longer. In the many years since, not having a blue tick has never come up, and I’ve only ever seen it used as a Twitterati insult so.

  • MikeOfManyMikes Mike's One of Millions (@MikeOfManyMikes) reported

@jewelsjml @aolmail @AOL Likewise. They're not about making money, they're about terrorizing because, what are we going to do about it? If they were about making money, they'd be advertising a paid mail service.

  • 4AnimalLife Lori Sirianni (@4AnimalLife) reported

@GardeningAtNigh @PaulbernalUK I was thinking AOL. I joined AOL in 1995 when I first got internet access, it was fun for a few years, esp after they offered a flat-rate price for unlimited use, but they kept changing it and eventually people left. Elon should grasp the idea, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

  • LobsterWayne Wayne Parry’s Lobster (@LobsterWayne) reported

@emptywheel @jamiesaker Elmo has achieved something noteworthy: AOL/Time Warner is no longer the worst business deal ever.

  • SergeyMak8 Sergey Mak (@SergeyMak8) reported

AOL was the first subscription service. #earlystage Our parents spent $20-$30 a month to use the internet when no one needed to make a phone call.
