  @DudespostingWs My mom was a customer service rep for AOL during the launch. They gave every one unlimited free dialup. My mom used it for free until the early 00s when highspeed was available. AFAIK I still had free and unlimited dial up access until AOL stopped offering it.

  @MattPinner_ 18 points I never had AOL adress (not american) and not used a checkbook, as by the time I was an adult (2000) it was not that common in my country anymore. And when I was a kid, most adults I saw, never used these. Only some business men. More common to use physical bankgiro.

  information about being trans was out there, I wasn't stupid, I'd been online since peak AOL days. I told my gf in high school I was "jealous of her because she got to be a girl and I didn't." I could've discovered myself way, way sooner. but the culture passively discouraged me.
