@Serein03 I never used AOL in my youth and I didn’t use AIM til way later personally LOL. I could’ve added ICQ though!

  • Rapieress C. Redhead Extraordinaire 🍀🏉💚 (@Rapieress) reported

@EmilyDreyfuss It's the closed Internet part, like Facebook. I saw this happen on AOL (the original closed Internet) which is one of the many reasons people left the platform. Add in the terrible decisions by Google, Facebook & Twitter to overvalue & poorly execute the algorithms over humans.

  • HaightNotHate Kris Haight (@HaightNotHate) reported

@PizzaOtter726 as a gay teen living in a small town here I knew 2 gay people, I was so excited to get to online so I could talk to people who were like me. A way to unite & have a safe space to talk about gay issues. Then I got on IRC and AOL m4m chat rooms.

@EmirichuYT @PatMSeymourVA :| this and Hotmail, started with Aol, then had yahoo messenger. Like...everyone would be outside playing and i would be like. Can I log in to the really slow online world to talk to one of three people that may or may not be online?

  • Yttreia 🎈Yttreia🎈 (@Yttreia) reported

@MooseTracks8008 I'd have posted the same thing. Heck, we never even got a 56k modem, it was too expensive, we got the tier below that, and basically lived off AOL trial discs until NetZero came out and blew our minds.

  • Chlsea_dr Chelsea (@Chlsea_dr) reported

mol to aol real quick because globe sucks 🙃

  • artofmu ✧ Musouka ✧ (@artofmu) reported

If there's one thing I want people to know about me, it's that when I was a wee lass, AOL wouldn't let me sign in and I went two days without feeding my Neopet, which resulted in me having an absolute meltdown.

  • positivevibevic Vic. (@positivevibevic) reported

@__CHANDA It logged my out randomly yesterday but my account is still set up with my original aol email and i can’t get into that **** 😭 i don’t remember my password and that email from 2009

  • stand4honor Cynthia (@stand4honor) reported

@formerteengirl COMPUSERVE, AOL,&MYSPACE, just to name a few, all mistakenly believed they were too big to fail... but their enraged users thought otherwise..& are about to teach Google,YouTube, Twitter,& Facebook the same lesson!!👏👏👏👏👏

  • PhoenixRed Frank (@PhoenixRed) reported

@Silcris88 @jetset_ I fear you are very much correct. This reminds me of the time I made an AOL joke in a Community update to players and one of the replies was "sorry, but wtf is AOL"? I never made another ISP joke ever again during that gig.
