@nahalo95 @PinselLuchs And Foxxwoof, came about when I tried to get things like AOL email or chat room names. Foxtrot was ALWAYS taken. Even Foxtrot Wolf some times, so.... I boiled it down to Foxx Woof (Foxxwoof). And that has ever since, kind of become my name for "me" and Foxtrot for my "sona".

@DougJBalloon They never fully recovered after AOL stopped sending them CDs

  • hedgie007 MJH📈📉 (@hedgie007) reported

@WealthOrDie Particularly loved the discussion of AOL (Page 33) and how they used to capitalize CAC and write it off over customer lifetime. AOL’s earnings were therefore considered lower quality and this attracted short sellers. Here in 2022/23, we are arguing to bring this back…

  • Negritorama HEKIREKI (@Negritorama) reported

@roudique @AndrewPerpetua Was AOL and Yahoo too big to fail? Could you remember how many years ago Google released any new successful product? There is hidden price to killing so many projects: people have no faith in you and look for other partners to innovate.

  • LivemusicCJ Chris (@LivemusicCJ) reported

@UltraTestoster1 @ElijahSchaffer I still have my original AOL email (I keep it for a spam account when you have to sign up for mailing lists). I’ve had it since 1993. Crazy to think that was 30 years ago. In 6th grade we started using IRENE. **** I feel old now

  • joelteply Joel Tepliid (@joelteply) reported

@rob_sheridan His interpretation seems like some kind of John Hughes version of reality. Entitled ***** and crazy loaners formed self-reinforcing mega/maga groups which had only existed in newsgroups and aol boomer chasms. From what I read about Elon, he never even learned how to code.
