@TJLarkin23 I mean, you never know who will be the "AOL" who gets everyone in web3 then paves the way for a "Google" to take over. But I'm impressed how ubiquitous ENS already is, even unknowingly. I'll say "ENS", people are confused, then I say ".eth names" and they know it.

A lot just used to call India and say they're AOL US and get their support login information. Then go in as the administrator. If you got it blocked, they couldn't get in. It has no capabilities of being hacked. You call them yellow. They spit it right out. Especially new ones.

i keep seeing posts of people talking to random AI chatbots and the bot just...lying or not knowing **** and being like "OMG IT"S HAPPENED" Did everyone forget the AOL chatbot or did I make that **** up like pirate's cove?

@Tempystral Terminally online people are THE WORST. I've been around the internet since it was AOL discs with 5,000 free minutes and the like as a young boy and Christ some of these people never change and they only get worse lmao

There used to be (e.g., on aol) something called "chat rooms," for specific topics. Everyone was visible, had a profile, and could make any comment anytime, but always visible to others in the room. The whole problem with social media now is private, targeted messaging.
