Looking back all the slightly bloaty, deals like Time Warner, Verizon & AOL never work. The smartest, successful deals are those that pple always ask 'why did they pay so much?' YouTube, WhatsApp, Insta. Those deals pple were skating to where the puck will be, not where it is

  • peteinvesting Peter (@peteinvesting) reported

@TheStalwart Directv anyone?! lol Original AOL/Time warner merger?! 4 billion dollar hit isn't even that bad these days...

  • BillofRights201 Bill of Rights 2.0 (@BillofRights201) reported

@CGasparino @apolloglobal @verizonmedia Verizon paid $4.8 Billion for Yahoo and $4.4 Billion for AOL. Only to dump both today for ONLY $5 Billion. Lesson: Tech stocks are NEVER a "buy and hold".

  • LilahSturges Lilah Sturges - GIRL HAVEN OUT NOW! (@LilahSturges) reported

Twenty-one years ago AOL bought Time-Warner. And no I do not have that backwards: America Online, an internet service provider that had only existed for about ten years, purchased one of the largest media companies in the world, for 182 BILLION DOLLARS. It was a strange time.

  • md_bites reality break (@md_bites) reported

@WSJ AOL still exists? And Yahoo is a poor excuse for a media site.

  • _danfesta Daniel Festa (@_danfesta) reported

@NE_Farmgirl @axios I was reading about how there are way more people than you'd think who still have AOL subscriptions (mostly elderly people who started in the 90's and just never stopped)

  • APope45 Anthony (Moderna Gang) (@APope45) reported

@Nash076 The AOL-Time Warner merger is one of the worst business decisions of all time

  • EnamoradaDelSo1 EnamoradaDelSol (@EnamoradaDelSo1) reported

@JackPosobiec Bad news for the Yahoo and AOL employees. These negotiations almost always end up with layoffs,

  • Zar_Nioclas Nioclás Rísndh (@Zar_Nioclas) reported

@JSS98Rock AOL will never go away; like Ask Jeeves. Just ghosts of the internet lost in the ether.

  • btfitzpat Brian Fitzpatrick (@btfitzpat) reported

A reminder from today’s paper for those who think the government is the only answer to big tech: “Yahoo used to be the front page of the internet. AOL was once the service that most people used to get online.”
