@LauraSedorPhoto AOL adoptee chatroom, circa 1995, I ran into a person who said they had access to the CA db w original names. I had no idea if they were lying, if I was sending money that would never pay off, if the names they gave me were real or made up. I searched anyway. It was all I had.

@davidwade Totally agreed. AOL which was the first big solution for getting online used to make you call and hold for three hours to cancel.

I think I honestly spoke to people I didn't know all that well much more often when I used AOL instant messenger than I ever did using any modern social network. I wish it was easier for all of us to talk together like that again.
