@0xHyperbart It's forgotten that before AOL and Google very few people used the internet and it had a really bad reputation of scammers and hackers. This changed over time with more users more webpages etc.

The fact is, AOL Time Warner could have sold WCW for a higher price and all they had to do was keep one of their highest rated programs on air. They literally turned down money JUST to take it off the air.
