  @Grummz Companies need to get over the 20th century mentality that office work needs to always be on site. Problem is many large companies still have admins who use faxes, think the internet is still AOL & who think knowing anything about computers & the internet is, "for nerds"...

  History tells us that the companies that are early leaders in a software category rarely remain so. Altavista? Excite? InfoSeek? You're old if you remember those, but at the time they were dominant. Then came Yahoo, then Google... Years later. AOL? EarthLink? Compuserve? They were the Internet for most users. Now? Telcos & Cable cos reinvented themselves as consumer ISPs and dial up mostly died. The historical examples go way beyond software. The point is that although OpenAI, Anthropic, Grok/X, Google are dominating AI right now, things change in ways we can't forecast. The next better faster cheaper different AI solution that erases some current leaders probably hasn't been created yet. I do wonder though, who dies first? I'm talking 5-10 year window.

  Crypto has hit a local maxima, like the internet did in 1998. How you monetize currently in crypto is to clip trading volume. The users doing volume are traders. so everything ships for traders, perps, options, CEXes, dexes, launchpads, etc... Build for traders and you get instant traction. build for anyone else and you get crickets, so the traction data says traders are the only market, and the capital follows the traction data. in 1998 every serious internet company was a portal. Yahoo, Excite, Lycos, AOL, Infoseek. the metric was traffic. Everything was built to keep the user on the page, because the user on the page was the business. Search was actively deprioritized. A good search engine sends the user away, which is negative stickiness, which made search a bad product. In 1999 Excite passed on buying Google for under a million dollars. In 2000 Yahoo hired Google to power its own search results, because search was a cost center you outsourced. We are in the portal era of crypto. The Google of crypto will not show immediate traction. Google didn't. It sent users away, made no money, and looked like a toy to every smart person grading it on 1998's metric. If you want immediate traction, the market has plenty for you. Go find the next pump fun. The next Aster. The next shiny thing traders rotate into for three weeks. The next big thing requires conviction about what crypto is for, not what does volume in the next 30 days.

  This is exactly the kind of infrastructure-level integration that proves we’re past the build phase 👀 Ripple successfully tested as a blockchain enhancer for the SWIFT network (Hyperledger + ISO 20022) back in June 2025, and now it’s moving toward actual integration. Remember when the internet went from heavy build-out to mass adoption in 1998? I was an AOL shareholder and worked at UUNET selling the pipes. The parallels with XRP and the Internet of Value today are identical — regulatory clarity + real infrastructure hooks = adoption phase. We’re entering the Green Zone. 🍻

  @justinkallhoff @RonDeSantis Not anti AI, just cautious AI. Perhaps AI should not be widely available. Perhaps it should be geared toward business use, like the Adobe software suite or Microscoft Office suite of business software. Like any tool, it has potential for both good and bad. We don’t let 13 year olds drive cars and drink beer for a reason… perhaps AI should not be so readily available to young minds. They can learn to use AI under a teacher’s guidance ( to use in a later career- it’s an essential skill). And for the record, I would completely shove the Internet back in a box… life was so much more simple in the late 80s and early 90s before PCs and AOL brought the Internet to anyone who could afford it. Same with cell phones. And the irony is not lost on me I am discussing this with strangers on the Internet 🤓

  @chamath Frontier models are headed down the AOL road. The question is, when Anthropic and OpenAI fail, who gets dragged down with them? What companies do well? Nvidia? Hyperscalers?
