If you guess your aol password incorrectly three times it locks you out for 12 hours. No customer service override. This is not how you provide customer satisfaction an why I moved to Gmail 😂

@JustinMcElroy AOL used to give out "free trial" CD's like candy, and every time my dad would call to cancel our service because we couldn't afford it they'd offer us a free month to keep us on the hook- we got free internet for years that way, lmao

@Just_this_time @damienhull Indeed. And former dial-up users that have moved to the "BYO Internet" plan ... actually have trouble understanding that they don't have to fire up the AOL client (like they used to) in order to "get on the Internet". I know people who still think they have to do this. For real.

@Toprolling Look the Doritos shipment is late as **** and I'm beginning to think my pallet won't be here. I'm working hard at HQ to prepare as many Doritos latkes as I can and my body has become a superfluous calorie absorber. $MSTR is up too I logged onto AOL recently; great company

@SebGorka My Dial up connection to access AOL was faster. WTF with this launch?

  • TychoTithonus
    Royce Williams (@TychoTithonus) reported

@Just_this_time @damienhull & in this case, AOL is fully aware of email "capture" of the user - they make sure there's no way to open email links in another browser (forced to use AOL itself). & many of these users don't even know what a browser *is*, so changing default would be only feasible way to help.

@3nx741 @znerdforever @Gummyhubby1 I mean, I feel the same. Met so many guys, lots over to my place, surprised I didn’t have any bad experiences. The husband, who I met in an M4M chat room on AOL, had an experience where a guy key-locked the front door from the inside and tried to keep him from leaving. 😬

@KatieFromTexas @JKash000 I didn’t get it on my aol email so I made a proton email account & had no problem.

90’s internet was a great time. Everybody was using AOL, yet AOL wasn’t evil enough to harvest and sell all of our personal data. Misinformation was in fringe chat rooms on ICQ or some **** and not everywhere. A/S/L was somehow a normal thing to ask. What a time.
