@redphase @Techmeme AOL did this back then, and I believe got in trouble with the SEC after the fact. (Hazy on that) But now it’s ok bc the SEC is feckless

@TaelurAlexis Lots! I have 33 years of programming experience. I’ve worked for companies like WorPerfect and AOL, yet I’ve been forced to answer lame questions that I would be capable of solving (given time) in the real world. Knowing shit off the top of your head doesn’t mean you’re smart.

Issue: AOL turned on 2 step verification for verizon emails accounts, July 27, 2021 Solution: Go to AOL email website & use old password. Click name (upper right). Click "Account Security" at left. Click at bottom for App Password link for a generated pop/smtp password. #verizon

@richsignorelli @sandibachom @EarthLink I kid you not, I know people currently paying a monthly fee for *CompuServe* (predecessor of AOL) accounts. Do they use them? No. Do they know how to contact a human & cancel the billing? Also no.

People don’t understand that these agencies have to pay publishers every month and the advertisers pay them only after 3 months. If BCG demand the payments to be made sooner they might lose that advertiser. Big companies like Google, Facebook and AOL don’t have this problem

I periodically think of quitting @twitter when **** like "Sports - Follow Topic" shows up in my timeline. Who ******** follows #sports ? I mean, that's the sort of targeted, specific output your algorithm should produce if you're running an AOL message board in 1995.
