You youngins won't get this but a lot of times I wish twitter was like the old AOL chatrooms of the mid 90's where you could pick your topic of what you wanted to enter and not have all the other crap show up !!

@risingvendredi_ I got in trouble once when my older sister was calling home from her softball practice to get picked up but I was using AOL so she never got through and had to catch a ride with someone else.

I told my dad what Electron clients were and he looked visibly horrified. He used to work on old CompuServe infra before AOL and flames nodejs whenever he gets the opportunity. So when I informed him that all of his VOIPs are chromium browsers powered by node he was broken.

@peterjandringa @nwilliams030 hmm, just poked around and perhaps i'm thinking of how their 1994 AOL service worked before this site? could also just be a folktale...either way going to lean on the analogy - when websites first came out, we didn't realize how much more could happen beyond static content
