@badwebsites @aliceclearman I've never sent anyone on Twitter a DM, I just found out what it is. Years ago in AOL chats some girls told me males sent them crotch pics, asked for "hoochie shots". New one on me at that timme. I'd guess males that did that were not successful on the local dating circuit.

@CipherKnot Yeah, but I’m not deleting it. I have friends on there. What I meant is that FB will not entirely go away. AOL didn’t exactly vanish, just the social media/toxic chat room aspect of it did. Only to be replaced by FB. And Twitter is not problem-free either.

@nbeaudrot @chrislhayes I mean, it's the damn same in VA (outside the beltway = constant defense contractor office parks including Raytheon which bought out the original, huge Aol campus and Northrup bought out Orbital) but Warner and Kaine have a different approach

@_Nibelungenlied @TCollaborator I never gave much to social media. I have been into this tech since before it was public internet. 1989ish... I learned by the time AOL came out (owned by Time Warner) that it would be a bad idea to give them everything. I'm glad I know my heritage, because the DNA test? No...

Also something I discussed with my husband after rewatching Dawson's Creek is how I feel bad for today's youth. It was simpler back then. We didn't have social media, or cell phones. We had AOL, but dial up and parents needing the land line meant no 24 he access to friends.

One of the first "blogs" I ever saw was about Christmas Evil (this was in about 1999 or so- aol dial up) & there was a screen grab of (spoiler) Santa going down on the mom & the caption said "it's the ******* mom from Home Improvement!!!!!" & I think about that every December

@YMNelson1 I know what BBS are, but I never used them. That was back when my only internet was AOL (and oh man, when that first phone bill came in...)
