Oh yes, and back in the waaaay old days (like 1994) internet services (or their closed-circuit predecessors like Prodigy, AOL, and Compuserve) charged BY THe HOUR for service. Think about how many people would stay off the internet if that were the truth today!

@redneckgeisha I had stacks of AOL disks (remember ppl making Christmas ornaments and such, or using them for coasters?) but never used them, as I had internet access via other means. I guess 1, technically.

  • 1981Dmv DMV_Beta (@1981Dmv) reported

@AveryHornn 1. I never had an AOL account but I do have two rotary phones, Leica & Nikon film cameras, a 1940's Smith Corona typewriter, and two Technics 1200 record players. In many cases I prefer them over modern alternatives so they all get used regularly.

  • sagafood Michael Rodgers (@sagafood) reported

@keyofmgy I think I'm at 3. I never had a MySpace. I built my own Angelfire page but just never did that. We also never had AOL (let's go local ISPs!), so I didn't have an email address there. And I've maaaaaybe never sent a postcard. But I'm not sure about that.

  • ThreepioZee Zee Threepio (@ThreepioZee) reported

@CharlesHawn66 1. Never owned an AOL email address.

  • metalgearburt Burton K (@metalgearburt) reported

EDIT: 1. I did send a fax for my pop as a kid years ago. 😥 We just never had AOL emails. How do people go through life never using a paper map?

  • graphitesmith Brian Smith (@graphitesmith) reported

@prairie_2 Never had MySpace and AOL wasn’t a thing anyone had here I think it was more widely used in the USA
