Oh yes, and back in the waaaay old days (like 1994) internet services (or their closed-circuit predecessors like Prodigy, AOL, and Compuserve) charged BY THe HOUR for service. Think about how many people would stay off the internet if that were the truth today!

@cullend Let me tell you about the search functionality of rhe music net streaming service that my team PM’d as my last job at AOL which was a raw SQL query into an oracle DB. The Real Network folks were like “it’s Oracle, it’ll scale”. They tested at 2 QPS, not the forecasted 50 QPS

How do people use standing desks to work? I cannot think clearly until I sit down and the switch in my *** makes the connection to my brain. Did y’all have to have surgery on your switch? I did too — factory default played the AOL dial up noise out my *** while connecting.
