  @PhillyMike My best friend worked in one of the towers. Luckily he went to work later than most people. There was no cell service that day so the only way to finally communicate with him was via AOL IM lol

  @neglbaren @freedom_007__ If you know horses all you need to do is look at the horses. William has light hands and his horses are soft. Harry’s are a knot of tension as he rips their mouths and slams his spurs in them. First hand knowledge here. I will never forget him ripping on those horses. He is a horrible human. Too bad old AOL message boards are gone there were a bunch of us who volunteered and we all were appalled.

  @atelicinvest kind of seems like it’s as simple as: can’t price to marginal utility in a competitive market, you have to price to marginal cost. and every day, it looks more and more like tokens will be a competitive, many-player, non-oligopolistic market. it’s not like AOL ever tried to price their email service based on the cost of sending the same messages via USPS, nor could Yahoo / Google price search based on the equivalent cost of the human labor of looking through microfilm at your local library

  @MickPuck @AOL I never really noticed when logging into my AOL emails. But I've been looking over the last few days. It's another outlet pedding crazy clickbait bollocks. It's a shame - I quite like having a slightly unusual AOL email address

  @syruproxy We met on an AOL aviation message board. 🤭 We crossed paths many times as kids but never met. We met in person a few weeks after nonstop phone calls and we've never been apart. I was on furlough from the airline I flew with, and I said no when they called me back. 📟 didn't work in the countries I flew to and we were inseparable by then. 30 years ago. 🩶

  @ClayTravis I was 14 when the strike it and a die hard Yankees fan, I was devastated- I did come back in 1995. I watch baseball every single day, and bet on it. Not parlays, never a parlay or prop bet - real actual old school bets, my minimum bet is $1200. Sometimes a lot more. I bet $9000 on the Mets earlier tonight because I liked them a lot. So I bet heavy and regularly. I'm down about $20K this baseball seaod but that's besides the point and a long way to go. In terms of the game - baseball has a major flaw that's like a cancer. Strikeouts. NL struck out 15 times in the all star game. The pitchers are collectively better than ever, and the hitters are no longer embarrassed to strike out. That's a deadly combination. Players like Luis Arraez, who hits .330, hardly ever strikes out, and gets key hits are not valued. Arraez could barely muster up a 1 year deal. These baseball executives aren't the sharpest. Back to the main point - if baseball goes on a long hiatus, which I think they will - if you ask me the under/over is May 2028. Because once 2027 is lost, they aren't going to play chicken again until 2028. So around May 2028 is when I suspect they would cobble together a deal. If they do what I suspect the sport will never ever be the same. It will be completely decimated. Revenue will be slashed. It will make 1994 look like a party. In 1994 there was nothing to even do, we didn't even have dial up AOL yet in house. Now there are endless options and endless entertainment. There are influencers (whatever you want to call them) that we never even heard of who are talented and get tens of millions of views- and the kids love them. Throw in the shorts that warped all the kids attention span, and everything else on social media sites - there is endless amounts of entertainment and competition for a buck. MLB is clearly delusional if they think are going to go on an 18 month hiatus and thing they are going to make $12-$13 billion in revenue again. They will not. And to be super frank - the game is pretty boring when compared to college football, NFL, or even the NBA (hate to admit it), if I didn't bet on this **** I wouldn't even watch it. MLB will completely destroy itself if there is a hiatus to the degree that they can't begin to understand. It would be like a nuclear bomb dropped on the sport, clearly they are all too dumb (owners and players ) to realize. I can't see any way there isn't a work stoppage. Going to be MLB Armageddon.

  How do all these people have 10s of thousands of "followers"? People that don't necessarily post anything new or just re-posts of other peoples' thoughts & work. I don't get it. I've been a member for a while now (w/ THIS acct - my orig was cancelled by Twitter during COVID for telling the factual scientific truth about masks based on my years in Bio-Nanotechnology). Is it strictly from those "Follow" train lists? I learned early on to stay away from those - I check out EVERYBODY I ever follow first & personally (not necessarily relying upon Grok's "Profile Summary", although those may get me interested to take a gander). I try to engage those who engage with me and avoid silly flame-wars. I don't post to GET followers, I generally post current stream-of-consciousness thoughts, what's on my mind at that moment & not really organizing them into proper English "articles". Plus I'm not really good at pithy comments - I speak from my heart & soul and EXPLAIN myself & my reasoning for coming to different conclusions. And I typically don't engage in irrational, emotional hyperbole & name-calling. I truly want to know what others think and LEARN (you're never too old to learn!). For DECADES on BBSes (Bulletin Board Systems - pre-graphical internet days, modem-connected social systems for discussion, research & debates), the Usenets (newsgroups, pre-graphical/HTTP/HTML internet days when time on the internet was purchased through 3rd party vendors like CompuServe by the hour - 70s & 80s, pre-AOL (which is slightly pre-HTTP/HTML/Mozilla-Netscape graphical internet revolution) - where everything was command-line driven in ASCII, EBCDIC, ISO set or ATASCII or the like). Am I just too old, boring, long-winded, obnoxious, opinionated or what? I know its annoying with me posting about my health, but I've gotta vent SOMEWHERE and NO ONE on X knows me personally. Not that it matters so much now, I'm heading down the stretch-run to Home plate, but even paying for Elon's blue-checkmark, I don't get many hits/views or responses/engagement, it is pretty comparable to my "free" account that I use solely for sports-related stuff where I have 1 whole "follower", which is probably one of those online ho-bags. It's not that I'm looking to "earn" from X and I'll NEVER post things just for click-bait value. I'm just really curious how these other accounts accrue so many followers for literally not doing much,
