@kanenfodder This is why in that one LG our video years ago people were still using AOL chat rooms. Which don’t exist now, but people will find somewhere to chat no matter how many places you can shut down.

  • SadTater dangit (@SadTater) reported

@ShanaazMorkel @KarateSkool It has happened to countless people, it's called breaking the Terms of Service. This isn't new at all, people were being banned from AOL chat rooms and forums 20 years ago.

  • 106th Mark Sundstrom (@106th) reported

remember trying to get into popular/filled AOL chatrooms (the limit was about 23 ppl) and you had to just hold down "return" until it let you in LOLLL

  • SerivaTiger Seriva Tigertail (@SerivaTiger) reported

@ariellec @soapachu @itxaropena I first saw news about 9/11 when I woke up and turned on AOL(The service, not the messenger). I didn't get how big a deal it was until I went to my high school and nothing happened for the rest of the day except everyone glued to the TV.

  • arampell Alex Rampell (@arampell) reported

@nrmehta @mgsiegler AOL peaked at what, 25 million users? Most of whom were more “tech savvy.” It’s hard to know the counterfactual — no social network, but everyone with real-time 24/7 email...

  • celyannhess Welcome the Big Tech Tyranny (@celyannhess) reported

@flowmindsets @getongab It feels like when internet first started and aol had 5 min noise before connecting. Or when it took 1 week to download a song from Napstar. Although Gab is new and exciting and if we all donated a little bit we can actually help them get going.
