When it first arrived — and I made a blog there within the first two months of its public existence — @tumblr was the near perfect blogging platform. Then AOL destroyed it. Now it’s a horrible jail where I can’t get rid of this dumb screen. Thanks @automatic.

Real talk. Novelty is hard to come by during pandemic. A few weeks ago, I was really enamored with online dating now sent back to my aol teen days. As a cranky ***** who hates first dates and strangers, this seemed like a perfect solution (poly, remember?).

@Ask_Spectrum After 3 technician visits, 3 modems and countless hours of lost work time and sitting on hold why do I still not have any internet service in my home? I had faster service from AOL back in 1997.

@AmyDentata It's the same reason why gaudy desktop PC lights are a mess of vendor lock-in, And why we've reinvented the bad old days of infinite cable bundles and of AOL channels (which is about the nicest way I can think to describe the deliberate interop friction between social media apps)
