  • ThatGuy_Ryan_ That Guy You Know (@ThatGuy_Ryan_) reported from Phoenix, Arizona

@49ersSFGiants1 Yeah you ain’t wrong there. Never really messed with AOL. I was on but didn’t care for it. Only talked to people I knew from school and stuff.

  • NelsonG Nelson G (TEXXXAS) (@NelsonG) reported from Phoenix, Arizona

The amount of spam @gmail is letting in is ridiculous. Whoever is marketing and sending to a (clearly fake) @AOL.com address is beating their spam filter left and right. Piss poor job @Google i expected better from a service that can machine learn who I regularly speak to & about

  • Sociopathlete Noble Brown, PhD (Sociopathleticism)🗡 (@Sociopathlete) reported from Phoenix, Arizona

@OpheliaMaddsen My first job was phone support at AOL I could tell you stories...

  • sheedhussle Battōsai The Tweetslayer (@sheedhussle) reported from Phoenix, Arizona

That’s been happening. MSN/AOL Chatrooms mans used to hide being threats all the time. Most this shit been happening way before twitter. Twitter is just where folks ***** about it.

  • Foradancer Nancy Iannuzzi (@Foradancer) reported from Phoenix, Arizona

@pugnaciouskvz1 @AOL God I hope he doesn’t get involved. Everything he touches turns to crap.

  • seemaychou seemay chou (@seemaychou) reported

Wow, really underestimated how much there was to explain so this made sense to a 12yo now: "When I was 12, I called a church pastor to see if he could help me install an AOL cd from the mail so i could get online. I got in trouble when my brother picked up the phone and heard."

  • sifutweety Sifu Tweety Fish, cDc (@sifutweety) reported

****, I forgot usenet. People mentioned forums (fair) and AOL (sure I guess) but not torrent sites (I get it) but not usenet, man, c'mon.

  • TheRegemeister I Told You So (@TheRegemeister) reported

@ramalad Yeah, I never put anything really personal in the *** even before I started to have problems with Messmaster. Although ... your AOL comment seems to suggest the futility of that option as well!

  • TooManeStream Mane (@TooManeStream) reported

@VizyLawrence Why this is my first time ever seeing the lyrics? I never knew that they mentioned AOL.

  • andkg Andy G (@andkg) reported

@LizHighleyman What Twitter has going for it is network effects. And for now it's the closest we have to the Internet I loved (circa 2005). But if AOL and even AIM could die, Twitter stands no chance. Musk way overpaid, and anything he tries is very likely to wreck it.

  • perrier1966 Martin (@perrier1966) reported

@garyblack00 @elonmusk just last week you said this is the worst deal since AOL. you cant even how Elon is going to transform Twitter into a big asset.

  • Periwinkle_NSFW Periwinkle 🔞 (@Periwinkle_NSFW) reported

@cvrlne AOL message boards and chatrooms from ‘93 to 2002-ish. As people dropped AOL (and dial up entirely) those communities set up web forums that tried to keep everyone together. Those didn’t last long, usually because of moderation issues. Still, far healthier than social media.

  • alan2351 Alan Leonard (@alan2351) reported

@dgordon52 @oliverdarcy I thought the AOL Time Warner would never work. Had all the makings of a dumpster fire. However, the Discovery of Warner Media take over was a **** show without toilet paper. How I miss the late Jack L Warner and Steve Ross.

  • LokiOfSassgaard LokiOfSassgaard 😬 (@LokiOfSassgaard) reported

@midnott Yeah, I saw some horrific **** on the internet in the late 90s/early 00s when I was a kid, but parents had no idea what the internet even was. My mum thought the internet consisted solely of Napster and AOL keywords for the longest time Parents today ought to know better

  • hashykins Pancake Enthusiast 🥞 (@hashykins) reported

It’s probably bad that a critical part of my social development was AOL Instant Messenger.
