I tried to customize my Slack color scheme and it’s nothing short of appalling. Come to think of it, I never really was good at AOL color profiles, either.

  • pkellner pkellner (@pkellner) reported from San Francisco, California

@julielerman @AOL My dad asked me once why his computer was so slow. He said he had bought some software from Nigeria for a great deal that was suppose to speed it up.

  • jjsignal JJSignal™ (@jjsignal) reported from El Cerrito, California

@The_Katbot It was also the reason I managed to push my parents off of AOL and move on to a better ISP, since AOL required its launcher to be open to stay online. I think it was a common complaint. Before that, I would use Net Zero accounts until I was flagged as a "heavy user" good times.

  • cleotiger17 Cleo Green (@cleotiger17) reported from San Leandro, California

@KLGLASS2 @Shakti74572 @AOL BE BEST WOOD fits her image perfectly bc the woman is empty as a brickwall cold as an ice cube boring as a slab of wood. Basically an empty ugly soul who will go down in history books as insignificant. Plagiarizer. Liar. Plastic. No compassion whatsoever for kids dying in cages

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

@AOL I feel bad for her. This guy wanted to cheat on his wife [ she didn't know he was married ] Then wanted to get rid of the problem when he was to dumb to use protection. 😐

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

@AOL I agree. The problem is a lot of people either can't afford or have no room to store clothes. Very sad.😐

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

@AOL Poor lady she tried to help. Maybe if she would have helped the student pay they would have left her alone. Very sad.🙁

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

    @AOL That's really sad. poor girl.🙁

  • thetylerhayes Tyler Hayes 🍩 bring donuts (@thetylerhayes) reported from San Francisco, California

@joshelman AOL was a literal life changer for me. That dial up sound may be awful but even to this day it makes me want to go back a little

  • davidbyttow David Byttow (@davidbyttow) reported from San Francisco, California

My mom controlled our AOL account when I was about 13 and would come into my room to sign me in. So, I created an entirely fake AOL login flow in Visual Basic and had her sign me in once to capture the password. Old school phishing.

  • jmergy Jonathan Mergy (@jmergy) reported from San Francisco, California

An AOL email address was such a bad vibe in the 90s. You have no idea. #ValleyoftheBoom

  • gatsbysghost Scott Reu (@gatsbysghost) reported from San Francisco, California

One day, AOL will shut down its mail servers. And then all of the Boomers’ childrens will have to answer The Call.

  • CalJake03 Louis A. Jacobs (@CalJake03) reported from Oakland, California

AOL down in Oakland too; dictatorial suppression

  • JoshRotter JoshRotter? (@JoshRotter) reported from San Francisco, California

@AOL Twitter needs to slow its roll! This cannot happen! I know she needs a new job after the shoe line went bust, but still...

  • obra Jesse Vincent (@obra) reported from Oakland, California

@tomcoates Unless you have an issue with the server or the server admin, where you have your account should not matter in a federated system. The parallel is ‘most of my friends use hotmail. should I ditch AOL?’

  • zcopley Zach Copley (@zcopley) reported from El Cerrito, California

@evanpro Sorry AOL chat window issue.

  • MarcusTuck Captain Marvel (@MarcusTuck) reported from San Francisco, California

I have a problem. So like every child of the 90’s I had dial up AOL. I have the most embarrassing screenname but I still use it. Now I’m locked out of it and can’t access it. @AOL has been zero help. First they said my name wasn’t the name on the account.

  • MarcusTuck Captain Marvel (@MarcusTuck) reported from San Francisco, California

So I’ve had @aol since 1995ish. My email seems to be not working and I can’t log in because my recovery phone number is over 10 years old and I no longer have that number. Someone help!!!!!

  • 128hoursperweek Mark Kim (@128hoursperweek) reported from San Francisco, California

@jasonlk @AV_Newswire Also at last count, around 2 million that pay for AOL dial-up service at $20/month.

  • yasSF Yasmine Scallan (@yasSF) reported from San Francisco, California

@AOL, it is impossible to get any help! If you try to get help from them all you get some tech companies in India or wherever not AOL! What is going on! Time to give up on AOL and switch!

  • pandemona Sara Haider ? (@pandemona) reported from San Francisco, California

@crecenteb circa 1995, played a MUD that was available on AOL called Federation Space Fantasy game (Fed). At that time I had played countless hours of nintendo games, but this was different. I'll never forget nor be able to recreate that time.

  • moneytrigz MoneyTrigz (@moneytrigz) reported

@CNBC @CNBCMakeIt oops wrong comparison, might be better to compare bitcoin to TCP/IP = internet (opensource protocol) vs AOL (private owned company network) so this wealth manager might need some informing on comparison or what bitcoin is. "blockchain" doesnt make it valuable, lmfao

  • thenewdarling luke (@thenewdarling) reported

@tastywerewolf Ye I’m very aware MSN was so of its time that I go to type it and realise shit no one will know that And Americans never even had MSN, who knows what the AOL shortcuts were

  • jc59049 Eric (@jc59049) reported

@EBischoff you think that the WWE will ever thank AOL for handcuffing WCW and handing it to them on a silver platter everyone knows that WCW would still be in business and the industry would be better off sorry watching the WWE Network and they are so out of touch jmo.

  • W3ARDstroke5 W3ARD 🛰️ (@W3ARDstroke5) reported

@sparky_husky @W7QL @WY7AA @twjones85 I don’t even know you’re dang call. Get a freaking twitter handle with some context. I suck at this and need all the help I can get. This isn’t AOL instant messenger bro.

  • Chrysthepirate C H R Y S T A L (@Chrysthepirate) reported

I just watched them in four pixels and AOL Music audio for 15 minutes and I’m happier than a pig in shit. #BTSxJingleBall

  • stoolth ConnectFour (@stoolth) reported

    @swedishbotmafia @WiseOldTexan @DevinCow @EarthLink @AOL I think earthlink@was before aol. I was a mindspeing customer and got bought up by EarthLink.

  • Z_Indy Z-Train (@Z_Indy) reported

@chikago12 It was ridiculous. I don’t know how they got away with it. They sent out millions of Cd-rom’s with AOL software and a month of free Internet access (back when that was a big deal) so everyone signed up, but then you’d be trapped. No way to cancel online. Only phone.

  • michcusejoe5 JAC (@michcusejoe5) reported

@philllosoraptor @coocoosncoco @MattWalshBlog Yea I don’t really know what the solution is other then parents doing a better job. We grew up in the age of AOL and dial up and parental controls. The day my friends and I discovered we could bypass that with broadband all bets were off 😂

  • onascaleof1210 🕯 Susan 🕯 (@onascaleof1210) reported

Twitter, if I wanted delayed entry on a social network, I'd jump in the wayback machine and set the controls to dial-up modem, AOL & 1996.

  • djhfhasfdshy djhfhasfdshy (@djhfhasfdshy) reported

@DeanEigenmann @pierre_rochard Yeah, who need throughput and quick confirmations. I love my dialup; I’ll never need any faster aol access.
