  • w00t John Vantine (@w00t) reported from Oakland, California

    @mygiantrobot DMX - Ruff Ryders Anthem. Pre-Napster, there were private chat rooms on AOL where people would “serve” MP3s. So painfully slow on a 14.4 kbit/s dial-up connection. Simpler times!

  • TenantsUpstairs Natasha Vo (@TenantsUpstairs) reported from San Francisco, California

    my first aol screen name was sk8rgrl91 so never had any doubt about it

  • Zarasdad2016 Fazal Malik (@Zarasdad2016) reported from Hayward, California

    @AOLSupportHelp i need help

  • cleotiger17 Cleo Green (@cleotiger17) reported from San Leandro, California

    @KLGLASS2 @Shakti74572 @AOL BE BEST WOOD fits her image perfectly bc the woman is empty as a brickwall cold as an ice cube boring as a slab of wood. Basically an empty ugly soul who will go down in history books as insignificant. Plagiarizer. Liar. Plastic. No compassion whatsoever for kids dying in cages

  • davidbyttow David Byttow (@davidbyttow) reported from San Francisco, California

    My mom controlled our AOL account when I was about 13 and would come into my room to sign me in. So, I created an entirely fake AOL login flow in Visual Basic and had her sign me in once to capture the password. Old school phishing.

  • ZachRoth Zach Roth | zachroth.eth (@ZachRoth) reported from San Francisco, California

    I straight called AOL tech support at one point to ask them how to open a “dot ZIP” file.

  • SFnatives San Francisco Native (@SFnatives) reported from San Francisco, California

    @stephendelong78 @CALWDA @JulieSuCA @CA_EDD #CAEDD Is a complete disaster. INCOMPETENCE. It’s like as if someone who has dial-up Internet, an AOL email account and thinks ctrl+alt+delete is tech support is running the IT programming Dept. @CA_EDD The “pending” glitches and lack of cust. service needs to end ! PUA, PEUC>PAY

  • pkellner pkellner (@pkellner) reported from San Francisco, California

    @julielerman @AOL My dad asked me once why his computer was so slow. He said he had bought some software from Nigeria for a great deal that was suppose to speed it up.

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

    @AOL poor guy. He's a nice person.🙁

  • mrjasonroy Jason Roy (@mrjasonroy) reported from San Francisco, California

    @jpawgmafia Downloading the STATE logos off of AOL online and printing them up and putting them in my room. That aged the **** out of me.

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

    @AOL Poor lady she tried to help. Maybe if she would have helped the student pay they would have left her alone. Very sad.🙁

  • espi espi (@espi) reported from San Francisco, California

    I tried to customize my Slack color scheme and it’s nothing short of appalling. Come to think of it, I never really was good at AOL color profiles, either.

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

    @AOL I agree. The problem is a lot of people either can't afford or have no room to store clothes. Very sad.😐

  • stevenredd stevenredd (@stevenredd) reported from San Francisco, California

    @Ky71Matt @notcapnamerica Hello! Of course I still have an AOL address! How am I supposed to sign up for porn sites I’m never going back to again?!?!

  • thetylerhayes Tyler Hayes 🍩 bring donuts (@thetylerhayes) reported from San Francisco, California

    @joshelman AOL was a literal life changer for me. That dial up sound may be awful but even to this day it makes me want to go back a little

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

    @AOL That's really sad. poor girl.🙁

  • jjsignal JJSignal™ (@jjsignal) reported from El Cerrito, California

    @The_Katbot It was also the reason I managed to push my parents off of AOL and move on to a better ISP, since AOL required its launcher to be open to stay online. I think it was a common complaint. Before that, I would use Net Zero accounts until I was flagged as a "heavy user" good times.

  • rod4p Paul Rodriguez (@rod4p) reported from San Francisco, California

    @AOL I feel bad for her. This guy wanted to cheat on his wife [ she didn't know he was married ] Then wanted to get rid of the problem when he was to dumb to use protection. 😐

  • yasSF Yasmine Scallan (@yasSF) reported from San Francisco, California

    AOL! TERRIBLE! It was to mean “America On Line”! Could not keep a tech advisor complete a help request on line to resolve problems with my email. Jess said “hello, what seems to be the problem” then disappeared and I had to pay to get him on line to start! VERIZON wake up please!

  • ABgirl_and_Pup KB (@ABgirl_and_Pup) reported

    @rileybbq @toddlerboi The two of you are classics from an era gen z’s will never quite grasp. The Internet was new, the options were so limited,… your blogs were my first means of reading about individual stories rather than being stuck on DPF or AOL private rooms

  • dmall3 Dusty Bottoms (@dmall3) reported

    @sadieprice90 @LikeMeezy Damn... Taking it back to the AOL IM days...

  • arbedout arbed_out (@arbedout) reported

    @alexkravets Great question! It's too early to tell, history rhymes but doesn't repeat, etc. etc., but many former UseNet ops feel that the combo of a) Eternal September bringing AOL users to newsgroups and b) alt.binaries traffic congesting the network is what killed UseNet 1/2

  • BK3vin Basilius Kevin .V🌈 (@BK3vin) reported

    @JaleezyD @aolmail Talk to @iFox97 they helped me when support services wouldn’t help me🥺..

  • No0neIsRight No One (@No0neIsRight) reported

    @SomeB1tchIKnow RA was the first game I ever played online. Nothing worst than losing a game because you got disconnected from AOL.

  • MightyMack03 Noha (@MightyMack03) reported

    @keithjohnstack Damn. She smokes reds? She's gonna sound like an AOL dial-up by the time she's 50.

  • vicky_caudill Vicky Caudill🇺🇸 (@vicky_caudill) reported

    During 9/11 I was an AOL tech talking to a New Yorker at call center, years later I went back and, job there but contract was Verizon wireless and Katrina happened. I would never work at call center again. Pay was good and benefits but disaster every damn time.🤪

  • tames__ tamesies (@tames__) reported

    do u guys think george clanton would give me a hug if i asked him rly nicely or, at least, send me an aol IM of the word "****" copypasted hundreds of times with a cool emoji at the end

  • notbangalore Eileen Ridge 🥧 (@notbangalore) reported

    This guy at AOL tech support is being a total hero and getting this lady's email restored. She is so happy! And now I have a new client en México!

  • _Nataliea Natalie 🦓 (@_Nataliea) reported

    @AOLSupportHelp my filter by FROM is not working. I get too many messages about male enhancement and Keurig coffee makers that I have sent to go to my very junk folder. They are not getting routed there, maybe because FROM only grabs email address not name?
