  • fsp0r Francis Spor (@fsp0r) reported

I expect the focus will now be shattered, and it will be knee jerk reaction after knee jerk reaction, until it all melts down and is sold to Verizon for some insane amount of money. Then, two years later, Verizon will sell it for pennies. (see Tumblr, AOL, Yahoo).

  • Davisimaging Mark Davis (@Davisimaging) reported

@gjzaidan @BrianKarem @CalltoActivism Probably wouldn’t take that much since this is already the 2nd worst deal in history besides the AOL/TimeWarner merger.

  • MicahRacoon Micah Weil, Tired and Fighting (@MicahRacoon) reported

I witnessed the rise and fall of AOL and Yahoo. I lived through Flash, phpBB, Newgrounds in its larval stage, and Neopets. I have made and lost more friends and enemies as Web 1.0 turned to 2.0. The Internet has failed to get rid of me in all this time. This, too, will fail.

  • celano_charlie Charlie celano (@celano_charlie) reported

I wish Elon would buy aol next and reinstall aol instant messenger. The new aol sucks. Same with yahoo

  • thecla923 Daniel Rogers (@thecla923) reported

I used to hang out in prodigy chat rooms and remember transitions to AOL ones. I never expected to be on Twitter forever. I’ll miss some of you guys but I will also enjoy watching Elon steer this into the ground while losing a ton of money.

@BarkingCarnival @sean_legg @DCTrojan Define fail. All internet platforms have failed, ultimately. Every single one. Users age, new adoptions drop off, eventually you have USENET, or AOL, or LiveJournal, or MySpace, or Facebook.
