  • mactavish mactavish 🌎 🏳️‍🌈 💙💜❤️ 🦄❄️♿ (@mactavish) reported from Fremont, California

@hankgreen Older than you but too poor to have a computer until AOL dialup because early childhood ed professionals get paid crap

  • jeff_lamarche Jeff LaMarche (@jeff_lamarche) reported from Cupertino, California

@octothorpe PCPursuit wasn’t shenanigans. Totally legit service that let you use TeleNet (dial up backbone used by aol and compuserve) to make outbound calls in other regions. Was like $30/month. Now you could get to places to learn about shenanigans using it…

  • seitz2all Matt Seitz (@seitz2all) reported from Milpitas, California

@maximlott @PCivilization @PrisonPlanet The barriers to creating a web site are far lower than creating a power company. We’ve had competing social network companies for years, from AOL to MySpace to G+. Creating another WalMart would be harder, but we don’t demand they give away products for free.

  • NachT666 Gulag Demolition Troop #696 (@NachT666) reported

Humanity went insane when our modems were always on. **** made so much more sense back when you had to chose: "Do I want to go online at 35Kb/s or have my land-line available to get potentially important phone calls" Yeah. I'm old enough to remember the AOL modem scream.

  • pdaddyfiske back in time (@pdaddyfiske) reported

@elonmusk @Jim_Jordan AOL comes out with a soft pedaling story, never mentions the 6 years wasted because of her f-king lying bullsh!t. These people are sick

  • Gneissguy62 Gneissguy62 (@Gneissguy62) reported

@StevenDJBaumann Im not a celeb. Far from it, but I still get DMs from women on fishing expeditions. I just delete them and I have never, in the 12 yrs, sent an unsolicited DM. This isn't like the old day AOL IM.

  • _ashhlayyy ash✨ (@_ashhlayyy) reported

love seeing the aol girlies do they ****, my friend group or not , y’all better get them damn degrees!

  • tweetsupa Paul Supawanich 🚎 (@tweetsupa) reported from Atlanta, Georgia

Is there a correlation between grandparents and completely esoteric home computer issues/AOL accounts?

  • scarimor scarimor ♀️🕷🍇👻🐸🏳️‍🌈 (@scarimor) reported

@jo_bartosch 1992. We tried to download a photo of Worf on AOL on my colleague's 386. We got half way down Worf's nose and gave up.

  • NancySara_78 Nancy Sara in Bloom 🦄🌹🍃 (@NancySara_78) reported

@josecanyousee_ Bad day, itchy socks, woke up late, person at work acted in a way, the sun rose but not at the right angle, the moon rose but it wasn't a rose it was a moon, squirrels, lack of private bathroom time, couldn't remember their AOL password... (all not reasons to kill, to clarify)

  • mightyjmerricks @mightyjmerricks (@mightyjmerricks) reported

I know anyone in the world would say why would you use an email your dad has access to but aol once was a really nice service

  • jeremyjkun Jeremy Kun (@jeremyjkun) reported

Part of the difficulty is that most of the motivating stories about differential privacy focuses on anonymization failures. AOL, Netflix, Mass. health records, all of those are bad, but DP was a lateral solution to those problems.

  • Open_Media Сатаноши (@Open_Media) reported

@WhaleChart It is old and obviously 1st gen technology like AOL was before and they went out of business. Bad technology? Maybe not. But development moves on and has better solutions.
