  • switttch scottt 🐢 (@switttch) reported from Los Angeles, California

@lucabrazzers it took FOR-EV-ER to convince her to get AOL, but once she was on she never left. lol

  • buckleyplanet Christian Buckley #CollabTalk (@buckleyplanet) reported from Los Angeles, California

@joeloleson & @jwillie have not said a word about @MicrosoftTeams + AOL IM federation in their session. Apparently this customer segment is not a priority. Shocking. #SPSLA

  • satan_spice 𝕤𝕒𝕥𝕒𝕟 𝕤𝕡𝕚𝕔𝕖 (@satan_spice) reported from Los Angeles, California

@angel_ponders Parent Over Shoulder. Some real AOL chat room ****.

  • TechArtMaker @techartmaker (@TechArtMaker) reported from Los Angeles, California

@NnnnnDeee @Activoid @pramsey342 @AOC I’m glad you support America Online. Personally, I think it’s a dead platform, but Canada seems perpetually stuck in the past anyway. Now, read the room and go back to whatever it is you Canadians do. Surfing moose-riding chat rooms on AOL I suppose... #Muted for stupidity.

  • jhamby Jake Hamby (@jhamby) reported from Los Angeles, California

Ok, three dangerous differences, since I gave two: ad auctions and user-created groups. The third bad difference is that AOL used to cost money, so they could easily entice moderators for chat rooms by giving them free accounts. Facebook’s paying moderators & the PTSD is worse.

  • el_duderino8184 The Essential Dude (@el_duderino8184) reported from Los Angeles, California

I used to print out naked pics while my parents were at home, and use them for personal research at night.... AOL was way too loud to try that **** when the parents were home

  • CryptoBullRon Ron (@CryptoBullRon) reported from Los Angeles, California

@HaileyLennonBTC I think I handed out over a million AOL discs trying to help people get online so I could sell them a website

  • MarisaMendez Marisa Mendez 🧜🏼‍♀️ (@MarisaMendez) reported from Los Angeles, California

All these Lives feels like 8th/9th grade when everyone rushed to be online in the AOL group chats and shit lmao

  • jhamby Jake Hamby (@jhamby) reported from Los Angeles, California

I think AOL was just from a slightly more innocent era when digital video cameras hadn’t yet percolated out and Internet gore sites hadn’t filled up with literally the worst that humanity can do to other humans, animals, etc..

  • DesireeAndrea 🦋desi baybee 💎 (@DesireeAndrea) reported from Los Angeles, California

I’m about to invest in AOL stock, old ppl refuse to let that shit go

  • jhamby Jake Hamby (@jhamby) reported from Los Angeles, California

But you would certainly get your account banned from AOL if you were pretending to be a customer service rep for St*rb$$$$ or any other company or governmental organization.

  • makmanson Hamberderglar (@makmanson) reported from Los Angeles, California

@Charalanahzard Footballqb4. Have never played football and don’t even watch it anymore. AOL was a dark time.

  • SethDaSportsMan Seth Klein (@SethDaSportsMan) reported from Los Angeles, California

@realfakewalter Like, when AOL, emails, and texting first came out, no one really had problems spelling “your” or “you’re”. Now it’s so rampant I think it’s people’s brains have either regressed or they’ve just stopped caring. It’s like Idiocracy

  • royeluna roye (@royeluna) reported from Los Angeles, California

Every day I mentally say “files done” in that AOL computer voice ..help.

  • ImTheBombDotCom HOLLYWOOD PARI$ (@ImTheBombDotCom) reported from Los Angeles, California

  • StephanieDyas Stephanie Dyas (@StephanieDyas) reported from Los Angeles, California

Imagine if this pandemic had happened in the early 90s when some people maybe had AOL for internet with slow dial up. Now we have FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, Netflix Party and Card Against Humanity virtual games to connect with friends. Could be worse.

AOL Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • damkina Damkina (@damkina) reported

@DoctorHenryCT But we never got to see his AOL emails…

  • tungolcraeft Drowned in Moonlight, Strangled By My Own Bra (@tungolcraeft) reported

@moonlitmantras @Dandeebakes I got online when I was 14, in 199something. Most spaces were adult spaces. I stuck to AOL message boards and kept my age to myself. Anything that bothered me, I avoided (and sometimes didn't 😈), but I never told them to adapt to ME. That would have been ridiculous.

  • wildangel5 wildangel5 (@wildangel5) reported

@itstheref @loveislandpriv Well I liked BB1. Maybe because it was new and different. The feeds were free on AOL. You saw everything. They never blocked anything. The people that caused the trouble were the ones that got voted out. That's why they didn't like it. Likeable people had a chance.

  • ShardayCM Sharday Mosurinjohn (@ShardayCM) reported

Open @ThomasClaburn's "i feel better after i type to you" & you see strings of text like: 2006-05-09 02:15:41 go to bed 2006-05-09 02:16:16 if i work hard i don’t think off 2006-05-09 02:17:29 left my computer down they belong to AOL User 23187425. What were they searching for?🧵

  • metsfanct Ray Iraci (@metsfanct) reported

@diannasaurusr3x I can still hear that screeching noise it made while connecting to the AOL network.

  • Megamet1998 Mega Metool (@Megamet1998) reported

@BossierNoah @Toon4Thought A lawsuit to David Zaslav would not surprised me. Warner Bros. has a pretty bad luck with mergers, ever since the Seven Arts days. At least, AOL & AT&T treat Warner Bros. as a separate entity.

  • madhi19 John G KBO 🇺🇦🇨🇦 (@madhi19) reported

@AdamLanceGarcia The AOL Time Warner merger was a bad idea... So was the AT&T WB merger...

  • yasinpbjk2000 yasin (@yasinpbjk2000) reported

@FormallyGuy Well imo whilst he didn't help WCW and the on-screen stuff was dreadful the AOL time Warner merger was the thing that killed WCW

  • ChrisVillareal1 Christian Villareal (@ChrisVillareal1) reported

By the time that AOL merged with Time Warner to form AOL Time Warner, one of the assets that had closed down was WCW, in which later it was acquired by WWE.

  • nhombe Kit 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ (@nhombe) reported

@HilMalatino it is somewhere between delightful and excruciating that one of the few exceptions is destiny's child threatening to close down an AOL email address just to get a break from a clingy-at-best boyfriend
