@ChrisJFuselier Never trust a Hotmail address, they are the new AOL. 🤣

  • tuba_man Chris 🌈🌟 (@tuba_man) reported from Wheat Ridge, Colorado

@AmyDentata It's the same reason why gaudy desktop PC lights are a mess of vendor lock-in, And why we've reinvented the bad old days of infinite cable bundles and of AOL channels (which is about the nicest way I can think to describe the deliberate interop friction between social media apps)

  • iansltx Ian Littman (@iansltx) reported from Denver, Colorado

Verizon should have never bought Yahoo and AOL, but it's good to see them shed those and refocus. AT&T should have never bought Tim Warner, but it's good to see them soon both that and DTV off. T-Mobilr should have never bought Layer3 TV. Etc.

@_KarenHao Part of the history of section 230 - look at the case Blumenthal v Drudge. Judge Friedman wrote in 1998 - AOL promoted "Drudge as a new source of unverified instant gossip on AOL. Yet it takes no responsibility for any damage he may cause. "

@MigTigMusic I think things come in waves, and there is a certain truth to the more things change the more they stay the same. In short, AOL did a ton of things absolutely correct but had some bad mergers and management as time went by and yes cell phones "replaced"

  • DiegoATLAW Diegoogolplex (@DiegoATLAW) reported

@SCOTUSPlaces Oh no I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Please send my support and condolences to your sister and family. Graycie was a lovely cat and graces the style guides we have here at AOL.

  • MarissaReneaum MysteriousMarissa (@MarissaReneaum) reported

@matthewegould Detecting aftermath reversal cancer, Motorola Pager, AOL Dial-up online & offline serviced, AT&T Phone booths properly functioning with no new tech inference or interruption, and a real-time living Astronaut wearing a spacesuit never influenced or near a 3G-5G atmosphere! 👧🏻

For the record, working the AOL cancellation line in 1995 was not the best job. They'd oversold the network. Nobody could log in, but they had a third effort policy. You had to rebut their complaints three times before you were allowed to cancel their accounts.

  • stocktrader300 Sheldon Cooper (@stocktrader300) reported

@jasonzweigwsj I still remember AOL was such a great investment in the 90s. Seemed like it would split once a a year like clockwork until they merged with Time Warner. This list brings back a lot of memories. The IPO opening day returns in the late 90s were unreal. 100% pop was a bad debut.

  • Gumby_Ray James (@Gumby_Ray) reported

@joeltelling @adnarimnavi I worked for a company Sitel that did AOL support.. I only got to do it like 3 weeks but it was fun..

  • ichbinsnicht Manuel Hoffmann (@ichbinsnicht) reported

@klakhani Chatting with people across the globe on AOL Instant Messenger using Windows 95 and a very slow modem.

  • jikamens (((Jonathan Kamens))) (@jikamens) reported

Good morning @AOL! Let's talk about why your account security procedures are absolute shite! My elderly father is technologically inept, so my siblings and I have our email addresses configured as recovery options on his AOL account so we can help him recover when necessary. 1/6
