    @seyitaylor Likely that the burden of support will fall on the brands and tools that build on the infrastructure. I’d imagine AOL support spent a lot of time early on asking customers to make sure they had the phone cord plugged in

    @mistrchristophr Early in my career, I worked for AOL (yes, really) and the developers who built/maintained the website I managed pronouncer it “earl”. To this day, I have NEVER heard anyone else say it that way so either they were ******* with me or they were trying to make fetch a thing 🤔

    Crazy that we used to play games like Diablo 2 on ******* dial up internet Had to open up AOL and wait for that shit to connect -then connect in game And I had to wait til night time where no one was expecting a phone call

    Mother of god. Mihoyo might have actually QA’d the 1.2 build of Genshin before rolling it out. Text bugs are mostly fixed, HDR support, and loading screens are no longer like waiting to connect to AOL. The dumpster fire is finally no more.

    @_tinatruth Steve Bartlett explained financial bubbles in one minute. The AOL–Time Warner story is a powerful reminder that HIGH VALUATION IS NOT THE SAME AS REAL VALUE. It reminded me of something I wrote on August 17 on my post 👇 A GREAT ASSET doesn’t automatically make a GREAT INVESTMENT. Pay too much, and your returns can suffer. Allocate too much capital, and one mistake can damage your entire portfolio. That’s why I believe good investing isn’t just about choosing the right asset. It’s about paying the RIGHT PRICE and sizing your position wisely. The AOL–Time Warner story didn’t teach me that lesson. It reinforced it.     @jamusp Yeah, but their servers are all still running Win2K Server and Bob lost the database passwords when AOL took them over That's really why they won't change it--Vivian in the Mail Room has them written down on a PostIt stuck to the backside of the plotter printer, but don't tell anyone. It's hilarious watching Bob grumble and act like he's not still looking for it every morning while he tries to make his coffee last him until lunch since they caught him using a 2nd K-cup but he only bought into one share of the employee coffee pool Bob's a douche. He also manages their social media accounts, btw. Just sayin'
