  @dodgson_sally Since all the channels on Freeview carry adverts why on earth is the Govt getting involved in trying to scrap it? Surely it funds itself? Bad news for pensioners & disabled people who rely on access to tv every day. Better to scrap GB News & OfCom. @lisanandy @andyburnham

  @x20mjs @AvonandsomerRob The World Cup feed is full range HDR and because our infrastructure is so far behind technlogy they crush the colours into a limited range to fit into Freeview. Red and yellows look really bad with this. Although it looks like BBC are handling the picture better

  @SheLovesTweets @theipaper Freely TV's are the same as Freeview and Freesat, the problem is Internet only doesn't take into account people who live in blackspots and barely get anything much better than old school dial up. Nor does it account for anyone who doesn't want/have broadband.

  @CountMoriarty @dave43law Yeah its stupid. What is the positive of switching it off? Everyone would need a fire stick type of thing and apps to watch channels. They're rubbish. There's often delay/time lag and no full access to all Freeview channels. Freeview is better

  @RetroKeithyD @dave43law I've got Freeview and Freely. Freely is great where you have bad reception. But it eats data. If you have a lower use broadband package you will need to pay for unlimited use. That could hit people on lower incomes. Also had to reboot it a few times, too technical for some.

  The government is considering the future of television distribution, which could affect the prospects of the digital terrestrial platform that is marketed at Freeview. and the public service broadcasters that fund it, wants to switch if off by 2034.
