If your Freeview channels have gone off in Yorkshire/North East.....North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue along with crews from Cleveland Fire Brigade are in attendance at a fire involving Bilsdale Mast which provides the TV signal for the region

@Dean0076103703 @GaryLineker Already told you. Your licence fee pays for little old ladies to get free radio. It also pays to maintain the freeview network which lots of advert-using channels piggyback on.

@f1redfive Hi Alex. Are all your Freeview channels off? I put Ch4 on 2.10pm to watch Countdown 🕛 & every channel No Signal ! so, tried switching TV off & on mains.. No Signal. Then got Freeview pocket TV out.. No Signal ! Luckily old Sky box in bedroom still shows free channels

The fact sky broadband is down is so annoying. I have a smart TV and now can't watch anything but freeview and teleshopping until the broadband and WiFi is back on. #skydown

@jonathanteacher This is what we’re finding. I’m going into a no-contract basic package for now. If I find we’re still not getting more use out of it as a service than we could just get on Freeview boxes, then I’ll just ditch them.

@YVimalathevan @TrishSpeirs48 @TheJudasSociety But freeview is a big deal? The biggest channels are freeview in the UK. Being on a barely used subscription service is awful for growth. I suspect WWE get a better financial package in exchange however.

@StuartRidley8 @GaryLineker TV licence pays for the upkeep of the Freeview transmitter network. Freeview is the way the majority of the elderly watch TV. They’re getting a very good deal. And they don’t pay if they’re receiving pension credits.

@Bob_Fischer Ah, is this why I've seen a few NE chums complaining of Freeview not working today? We nearly had a similar thing in 2018 when all of West Yorkshire and the countryside around Manchester was on fire, including Winter Hill, the main NW transmitter. During the World Cup too!
