Sean Collindridge (@SLCollindridge) reported from Huddersfield, England@AmazonHelp I bought a Freeview PVR on my new Argos but have since decided I don't want it. It's still ready for collection at the Huddersfield store. What can I do to cancel this and have my card refunded

StuN UK (@StuN_UK) reported from Sheffield, England@bowlestrek Get your facts straight. Johnson is not in favour of ditching the license fee, as he knows it’s a massive vote loser. Plus they’ve now realised, they can’t go to subscription fee system, as the freeview boxes that the majority of UK households use, don’t support it.

BrendanB (@Brendan80704486) reported@superTV247 Simple answer of course would just be to let viewers decide and make the tv licence voluntary. If people want the BBC they will pay for it. The licence is a poll tax - the poorest and the richest pay the same - and very regressive. Why force the poor to pay to watch freeview tv

Schemie Goblyn (@SchemieG) reported@_Leyanelle_ @DaveyTheTroll Stv player had a major habit of freezing randomly then utterly crashing comedically large parts of Dundee down by the Tay are served by the relay transmitter at Tay bridge on the fife side which has a significantly reduced freeview service compared to rest of Dundee

Susie Burton 🇬🇧🏴 (@SusieWBmeme) reportedMy elderly, widowed neighbour struggles to navigate Freeview. Her smart TV supports Netflix, Prime, Sky, but even if she could afford those platforms, she would be terrified of touching a different button on the remote. She sleeps very little and the TV is her only companion. If she can’t return to her familiar menu, she panics. I’ve had desperate calls from her in the evening, petrified that she’s ‘broken’ her TV. She never has, but her swollen arthritic fingers struggle with the tiny, spongy remote buttons. It’s heartbreaking 🥹. The @LabourParty DO NOT GIVE A **** about the vulnerable and elderly. I honestly believe they’re building to a ‘Logan’s Run’ style of totalitarian State 🤬

The Taxman ✞ (@CohleTheTaxman) reported@Steven59066 @AmandaMounthump My idea to write to parliament. You're a kind man and they shouldn't be making decisions like this, which will cause you problems and upset, so it will. They need to be told its not right and the decision needs stopped. Although someone told me Freeview might actually stay

✨🔥ℝⓊ𝔰тץкภ𝒾𝔾ħ𝔱_ / Brick Ch4pel🔥✨ (@rustyknight_) reportedThere is a weird bug where save/load files from freeview perspective (i.e. the one that isn't the isometric top down view) causes double-prompts on saving/loading existing names

Bryan (@htfc2) reported@MartinAsto6999 @NzFubar TVNZ+ has the WC rights. They are also after the rights for the NRL off sky. According to my local tv aerial guy we have only another 18 months of satellite service left, we latched onto a S.Korean one. Freeview will disappear, everything will have to be subscription.

Gary Finney Zair (@finneyzair) reported@inghamjj55 @TheMekon_Venus I pay towards many services out of my tax that I don’t benefit from, but I’m ok doing it because it means others can benefit. Freeview is the biggest digital platform in the U.K. - used by a lot of peoole aged 60, a % of the licence fee helps maintain that service. 1/2

Winston Marshall (@MrWinMarshall) reportedDystopian. The UK gov paper for alternative and social media censorship in the name of protecting “trustworthy” news platforms makes for chilling reading. Lisa Nandy’s Dep for culture, media and sport’s censorial propositions are yet another attempt to protect the establishment from the people. Read it for yourself - “People are increasingly accessing news online, rather than through more regulated spaces like Freeview on their TV sets. This is weakening the ability of trustworthy news providers to reach audiences and shape informed public debate.” The word “trustworthy” here is Orwellian. They mean by it news acceptable to the regime. Mainstream media is not trustworthy in the eyes of the public, for good reason. “Overall trust in UK news has dropped, and only 45% of adults feel confident judging whether a source is truthful. This rise in untrustworthy news and corresponding decline in trust in news pose a risk to the public’s ability to access accurate information.” This is the fault of mainstream media. They have been blatantly biased for decades. The response to the rise in alternative media is for MSM to try and become more truthful, less biased, and honest to the public AND THEMSELVES about their bias. And certainly NOT to censor or throttle alternative media. “[Social media] makes it more difficult for trustworthy news providers to find, maintain and monetise an audience, with repercussions for the commercial viability of public interest journalism.” I.e. regime interest journalism If mainstream media is to be saved it needs to drastically improve its product, and focus on youtube and social media as outlets, it needs to adapt to the media market not try and make the media market adapt to them. How is it that they are so lacking in self-awareness? Ultimately this is a war they can’t win. The question is - how long will it go on. And what damage will be done along the way.
