@rec777777 @SusanHu25307477 @NadineDorries Unfortunately it’s not straight forward. Anyone that uses Freeview (ITV - Ch4 etc ) it’s all accessible on the free to air model. BBCs WOKEness is coming from further down the line. Indoctrination at school and through University they take this on into the workplace

  • JAtaska Jack Ataska (@JAtaska) reported

@RevRichardColes @carlistyping The BBC gets 86% of licence fee revenue. So we could drastically reduce the fee people are strong armed into paying if they were self funded. Or at least give people the option not to fund the BBC whilst keeping other Freeview Channels. Make the BBC a subscription service 👍

  • MamieTea AIMEE (@MamieTea) reported

@SLUG_MrIBlack and as public money went into it, the code was shared with ITV, Ch4, Ch5. It innovates with loads of tech which it shares. It has public services like language transmissions and there was a section to help people switch to Freeview. What the plan about removing its funding?

  • gardner_sd stuart gardner (@gardner_sd) reported

@VirtuaMcPolygon @byford_ian @DavidLammy Doesn’t part of the license fee go towards maintaining the transmission network for freeview?

  • MattSnarky Meh.. (@MattSnarky) reported

@Scrumpydude1 @jamiebglover How do you think the broadcast network that Freeview runs on gets paid for? All those transmitters that still need to be operated and maintained?

  • MarkFCooke Mark Cooke (@MarkFCooke) reported

@FunkyA1ien @boxinglyf @GaryLineker Because you're not paying for the BBC, you're a lot of the money goes to the network and various other things, including Freeview, Freesat and the UK broadband network. You can watch ITV and Channel4 on their on Demand services without a TV licence. And it's still a choice.

  • dougmcfarlane41 Douglas Mcfarlane (@dougmcfarlane41) reported

@PCarmichaelVO @NadineDorries In Teesside August 10th 2021 we lost our only Freeview transmitter to a fire. 1 million homes lost its Freeview. Only last week have people got a patchy service back, just BBC some areas have still no signal. 4 months no FreeviewTv. Tell me BBC r doing a good job maintaining mast

  • Purple43213287 Purple (@Purple43213287) reported

@andrew_wauchope @guardian So you don't think disability programming is a vital service? What about the freeview network?

  • dougmcfarlane41 Douglas Mcfarlane (@dougmcfarlane41) reported

Tweeters saying #BBCLicenceFee helping maintaining #Freeview. Well come to Teesside and we'll show you how it doesn't maintain Jack ****. Our Blisdale Transmitter burnt down August 10th 2021 & we've only this month got patchy service some still have zero. Maintained my arse

  • Gary1609 Gary #JohnsonOut (@Gary1609) reported

@Eyeswideopen69 @carol_casey1 @caporicci_r Should that not be a choice though? You are talking about forcing everyone to have a TV License even if they do not watch BBC but watch other freeview channels. Its like saying sky has the best of movies so you must pay even if you do not use the service.
