BILLSDALE TRANSMITTER PROBLEMS DUE TO FIREM CAUSING TELEVISION RECEPTION PROBLEMS.THOSE WHO HAVE SKY OR FREEVIEW WILL NOT BE AFFECTED. REPAIR TIME COULD BE ONE OR TWO WEEKS.

If your Freeview channels have gone off in Yorkshire/North East.....North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue along with crews from Cleveland Fire Brigade are in attendance at a fire involving Bilsdale Mast which provides the TV signal for the region

@Bob_Fischer Ah, is this why I've seen a few NE chums complaining of Freeview not working today? We nearly had a similar thing in 2018 when all of West Yorkshire and the countryside around Manchester was on fire, including Winter Hill, the main NW transmitter. During the World Cup too!

Due to a fire at the Bilsdale transmitter, our local North Yorkshire DAB multiplex will have reduced coverage. The incident has affected all services from the transmitter including Freeview, local FM and national/local DAB.

@WilliamAllen29 @Garbhan_D I presume they're only blocked where they can be blocked i.e. via Sky, where location of the viewer is known. It wouldn't be feasible to block thru Freeview, as that just works off of transmitters. Most countries have land borders, so signal leakage presumably tolerated re rights

@WendyM53 @Freeview Hi, Due to unforeseen circumstances the Bilsdale transmitter is currently not transmitting due to a large fire. The emergency services are onsite and once cleared the engineers will access the transmitter to resolve the issue. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
