@Sonic_Sinclair @bbcmicrobot Technically it is, there's support for it in DVB. There's several channels on DVB satellite that uses it, not sure there's any on freeview. Certainly all the original services shutdown or moved to MHEG. The BBC mheg service was incredible but that's shutdown now too 🙁

On matey question I flack through channels via virgin media no problem on any channel including the awful gb news however on Freeview all channels good Quality except the awful gb news which the worst of the lot a bit like the content I dot know about sky fst

@davidholtactor Well a licence isn't needed for radio, so if I paid 43p a day, that would be for half a dozen channels I never watch. The other 60 or so channels on Freeview are, erm ABSOLUTELY FREE. But cannot lawfully watch those, without funding the BBC!

You can watch ITV, Channel 4, and the rest of the Freeview channels for free (clue is in the name), just like the motorways are free except for the Toll roads (AKA Sky and Netflix), which you can pay for as and when you want to use. I don't recognise any BBC roads?

@theplopster1999 That already exists - called Freeview and it’s crap with virtually no new content - that is what you’d end up with for poor people - even cheapest subscription now is nearly £300 per year

@Stanhope2011VJ the last time they said they would make cuts they said BBC Three tv channel and the Asian Network radio would be cut in the end, they only took BBC Three off Freeview but they didn't cut the Asian Network radio station

@TomSwarbrick1 There are no good alternatives to the BBC licence fee. Will BBC TV be taken off Freeview and put behind a paywall? My grandparents couldn’t work a streaming service? Does Global want to compete for advertising revenue with a commercial BBC radio network? Bonkers!

@DarylSting @RhonddaBryant As it costs each licence payer £159, I should hope not. It's a tax that hits the less well off more. There are plenty of other channels that provide an excellent service on freeview.
