@bowlestrek Get your facts straight. Johnson is not in favour of ditching the license fee, as he knows it’s a massive vote loser. Plus they’ve now realised, they can’t go to subscription fee system, as the freeview boxes that the majority of UK households use, don’t support it.

@scottiepark45 @BBCSportScot I agree, I'd much rather it was freeview, but 2 things: 1)It isn't the SFA that sold the rights it was UEFA, so not much could be done about it 2)There have been 'positive' talks about free to air games, which never happened with Sky Hopefully it ends up being better for the fans

@joelist This is very interesting. PBS have a UK Freeview channel so you'd think they could just show it there if they really wanted to, but they don't (and never have) owned the rights. I read that a lot of Sesame Street's income was from DVDs, and that has now vanished.

@BootstrapCook Sometimes. The cabling should work fine so long as the box and your TV have an HDMI port. Problem might be whether the Freeview signal in your area is strong enough to be picked up by a small aerial.

  • missTfied66 Ditsy1/Debbie (@missTfied66) reported

@theipaper we had to pay for cable to watch bbc etc as not in a freeview signal area..so paid double. got fed up with them being tory mouthpiece and platform for farage etc. Then we kept the licence just to watch PMQs between torys n corbyns labour as we stopped our cable tv. After the

Why is TV so utterly ****? Freeview? Supposed to be 700 Channels. And 695 of them are Totally ******* Unwatchable! The other 5 consist of Repeats or Adverts! And they want you to pay £156 Quid for a TV License? NOT A CHANCE!

  • viridispicus _insert witticism here_ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 (@viridispicus) reported

@BootstrapCook It depends on signal strength, direction to transmitter, and what's in the way. Digital signals (such as Freeview) are broadly binary: the TV understands enough, you have a picture - or nothing. Amplifiers exist, but they amplify noise as much as signal, so beware promises.

  • robertamw Roberta M Wallace (@robertamw) reported

@MediaGuido @Iromg is the best of TalkTV also I cannot get TalkTV on Freeview for some reason so watch on YouTube? Interestingly I can’t get GB news either but when BBC3 started no problem! Why is that?

  • DnyLdn Danny London (@DnyLdn) reported

    Or Freeview sucks.

  • _LoneWolf_ Paul (@_LoneWolf_) reported

@SkyHelpTeam Looking at your deals, new customer deals, I need some information that I can't find online. Where can I find out monthly costs after initial 18 months? I found broadband after 18 months (£35.50 for what I picked) but not monthly TV costs - basic channels, freeview.

  • BradMacpherson5 Brad Macpherson (@BradMacpherson5) reported

@BootstrapCook If the TV's relatively new it should have a built-in Freeview tuner. The aerial might be more of a problem though depending on how good a signal you get - digital's more sensitive than analogue, a poor signal makes it unwatchable rather than just snowy.
