@WebsterFrank @abline11 @jamiebglover Could it be some, in fact a lot have freeview, freesat etc and can watch other news. Trouble is we still have to pay BBC to watch other news. Get it?

@ClaireJHartnell @Porrohman @jamiebglover Bad analogy. You can watch ITV, Channel 4, and the rest of the Freeview channels for free (clue is in the name), just like the motorways are free except for the Toll roads (AKA Sky and Netflix), which you can pay for as and when you want to use. I don't recognise any BBC roads?

Does anybody else with a Freeview PVR find programmes on the @Channel4 player freezing frequently for half a sec (but sound fine) ? Our @PanasonicUK is awful trying to watch a C4 series. Once in a blue moon it does it on BBC iPlayer too.

@KarmaUnc @GMB @joshwiddicombe Yes, but the BBC is a significant contributor to Arquiva who own the masts. They also support Freeview and Freesat.

@theplopster1999 That already exists - called Freeview and it’s crap with virtually no new content - that is what you’d end up with for poor people - even cheapest subscription now is nearly £300 per year

@Monkeymanb0b Freeview with out the 3 BBC channels is the obvious solution. Which would be free. You could also then add subscriptions if you want them. The difference between the TV licence and Skys basic package is £6.

@TomSwarbrick1 There are no good alternatives to the BBC licence fee. Will BBC TV be taken off Freeview and put behind a paywall? My grandparents couldn’t work a streaming service? Does Global want to compete for advertising revenue with a commercial BBC radio network? Bonkers!
