    @Fern_McGovern @SIofting @jckhth Nope. You can pay for a better service. Just as you can have Freeview TV, standard channels, most in standard definition but functional, or you can pay more for Netflix/Amazon/etc, Sky or BT with movies and sport in HD. Same principle applies.

    @Claire_Pickard @sueashton3000 Many residents in Sunderland & along the Durham Coast also receive Freeview Channels from the Bilsdale transmitter. The fire is also likely to have knocked out about 30 relay stations, which "feed" on signals from Bilsdale. I wouldn't like to climb up the transmitter to fix it!

    @bigpapablu @itvfootball I don’t have a sky or freeview box! I stream everything and have very good internet so it’s never an issue haha

    @TheGriftReport There are millions of pensioners and older folks who do not have broadband, do not want broadband, would never manage with a new television / apps, and rely on their Freeview television service to stay connected to the outside world Switching off Freeview would effectively be an isolation/ death sentence for many of these people

    @inghamjj55 @TheMekon_Venus I pay towards many services out of my tax that I don’t benefit from, but I’m ok doing it because it means others can benefit. Freeview is the biggest digital platform in the U.K. - used by a lot of peoole aged 60, a % of the licence fee helps maintain that service. 1/2

    The problems with planning to switch Freeview off: Many people still watch Freeview. Internet drops out or you get the 'circle of doom' and freezing BBC iPlayer when trying to watch something! Not everyone has or wants internet / wifi / data.

    @loobylambchop @GBNEWS Then you’ll have no TV at all. All other TV services, freeview, Sky or Virgin need a licence as they broadcast live TV. Amazon Prime doesn’t, it would only do that if you installed and used the iPlayer app, which also requires a separate login.

    Worst case scenario on That's TV channels on Freeview I'm posting this because Freeview channel 75 That's Entertainment deadline is over and nothing been broadcasting yet the deadline was on Wednesday 22nd July 2026. Freeview channel 7 & 8 That's Local channels are not affected by this. All That's channels on Freeview will be removed from the EPG without notice.     @iggy1966 @BENEFITS_NEWS They don't really, Chris... However the 'Freely' service currently being touted to replace Freeview in about 15 years time IS a streamed service which WILL be available via set top boxes/inbuilt IP provision in TV sets and probably an 'App'.

    There is a weird bug where save/load files from freeview perspective (i.e. the one that isn't the isometric top down view) causes double-prompts on saving/loading existing names

    @HelenFish249972 I don’t even think I pay for mine. I had Freeview for years, then Sky had a good deal as a new customer, I went to cancel this year as I’d had it two years and they basically kept it at the same price again. It was actually a few quid lower. I only pay £20 odd the internet, and
