@GBNEWS i was so looking forward to it. But… on freeview the picture quality is really poor, sound is out of sync, and just feels like the sets are dark and badly lit. Took my focus away from listening to whats being projected. #GBNews

@MartinSLewis Alternatives to the TV licence were looked at a few years ago. I was told Freeview will shut down in a few years. How would we handle a COVID outbreak without a national broadcaster and only Internet/Cable subs? What happens to the stuff BBC runs under the hood?

  • pwatson1974 Paul Watson (@pwatson1974) reported

@Lifeson90 @greg_jenner So what’s the better alternative that keeps all the non-subscription friendly services like Freeview or the transmitter network?

  • Truth_Aint_Real The_Truth_Doesnt_Matter (@Truth_Aint_Real) reported

@PCarmichaelVO @NadineDorries And there lies the problem, very few people speak Welsh/Gaelic and yet millions is poured into it, not value for money. It's not freeview if we are paying a licence fee for it.

  • theninetyninep1 theninetyninepercent (@theninetyninep1) reported

@Life_Disrupted + it wouldn't be free Only practical way to do subscription service is Broadband. New broadband connection for a lot of elderly £25/month Subscription min £7/month New smart TV £200 or Freeview play box £100 Helpline to help elderly navigate all those menus + new tech £1 Bn/yr

@RayVonPeeps @GaryLineker i never knew about it till jeremy corbyn became leader. i had a tv licence purely to watch PMQ we stream only..no virgin tv or sky tv or freeview. After reading what theyd said n done re trashing jeremy corbyn constantly and whitewashing farage, bannon, maybot, johnson lies &hate

  • TrilbeeReviews MrTARDIS (@TrilbeeReviews) reported

@tTaseric The "enforcement" issue is astonishingly overblown. Also, you need the license to watch non-BBC channels but the license-fee also covers the maintaining and upkeep of Freeview services so those non-BBC channels can even be broadcast.

  • LinWilb northern lass (@LinWilb) reported

@rec777777 @SusanHu25307477 @NadineDorries Unfortunately it’s not straight forward. Anyone that uses Freeview (ITV - Ch4 etc ) it’s all accessible on the free to air model. BBCs WOKEness is coming from further down the line. Indoctrination at school and through University they take this on into the workplace

  • pjtobin00 Paddy (@pjtobin00) reported

@AudsDisease @SkyNews What about Freeview channels? The license fee also goes to maintaining the Freeview network

  • pjtobin00 Paddy (@pjtobin00) reported

@raphael91983947 @SkyNews One channel? How about the radio, Freeview network, online bbc content, etc

  • dougmcfarlane41 Douglas Mcfarlane (@dougmcfarlane41) reported

Receiving any channels. They pick on the weak and less informed. Investigate that issue and the fact we have only a bit part service here in Teesside (depending on which bit of Teesside you live in) for example we ONLY get 9 BBC channels no ITV/C4/C5 and others via Freeview
