@zsk That’s why we watch Freeview. The problem is, many will have to work for a living, rather than being a parasite on the public purse and demanding the stealth tax by menaces

  • mclowes2308 Martin Clowes (@mclowes2308) reported

@SophieRose19x @sophielouisecc Might come as a surprise but ITV, C4 & C5 have managed fine with no public money for over 60,40&25 years. All free, never mind other channels on freeview, you know they use this thing called advertising, which if the BBC is as popular as they make out will have plenty of offers

  • p_chap_charles Peter Charles (@p_chap_charles) reported

@Paul_Baro @entoatucasa @gabyhinsliff How do you plan to get this subscription service to work with existing freeview TVs?

  • LordWilsonVILLA LordWilsonVILLA🦁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿UAI (@LordWilsonVILLA) reported

@Stanhope2011VJ the last time they said they would make cuts they said BBC Three tv channel and the Asian Network radio would be cut in the end, they only took BBC Three off Freeview but they didn't cut the Asian Network radio station

  • Rob_Kelleher1 Rob Kelleher (@Rob_Kelleher1) reported

@theplopster1999 That already exists - called Freeview and it’s crap with virtually no new content - that is what you’d end up with for poor people - even cheapest subscription now is nearly £300 per year

  • mikeapollo Mikeapollo (@mikeapollo) reported

@custardsmaster @JamesSm37912408 @EmmaKennedy Bigger point, do you access Freeview? Freeview (or to be precise, terrestrial television services) are transmitted on BBC owned multiplexes. No BBC also means the commercial channels disappear from terrestrial broadcast. Your TV licence literally pays for the transmission network

  • JeffTrainer3 Jeff Trainer (@JeffTrainer3) reported

@Uptotherewithit @TVSanjeev Well that stuff is paid for so just strip the woke crap & run World Service type news & all the old programs on Freeview, but not funded by a Licence Fee or the taxpayer. All other sport, comedy, films, etc can go on Advert or subscription model, and that pays for the former!

  • DawnSpinks2 Dawn Spinks (@DawnSpinks2) reported

@catherinerusse2 @Public_Campaign @NadineDorries Signed & RT'd! ✅ I only have Freeview channels so if we lost the BBC further down the the line I would lose a big chunk of my best viewing! Admittedly I could maybe use the licence money to buy something else...but is the quality of new content as good as the BBC?!🙄

  • MT_Kilpatrick Michael Kilpatrick (@MT_Kilpatrick) reported

Does anybody else with a Freeview PVR find programmes on the @Channel4 player freezing frequently for half a sec (but sound fine) ? Our @PanasonicUK is awful trying to watch a C4 series. Once in a blue moon it does it on BBC iPlayer too.

  • thatfoxxybloke David Foxx (@thatfoxxybloke) reported

@Monkeymanb0b Freeview with out the 3 BBC channels is the obvious solution. Which would be free. You could also then add subscriptions if you want them. The difference between the TV licence and Skys basic package is £6.
