Stephen Neal (@Stephen_Neal) reported@UHD4k @Bobbinz @SVGEurope Afraid although I work for BBC Studios (which makes shows for the BBC) I have no insight into what iPlayer may support in the future. AAC was chosen for Freeview HD because Dolby had no equivalent receiver-mix audio desc'n support in 2009ish when the platform was standardised.

Tom (@TomCushnie) reported@x20mjs @AvonandsomerRob The World Cup feed is full range HDR and because our infrastructure is so far behind technlogy they crush the colours into a limited range to fit into Freeview. Red and yellows look really bad with this. Although it looks like BBC are handling the picture better

BENEFITS NEWS (@BENEFITS_NEWS) reportedThe problems with planning to switch Freeview off: Many people still watch Freeview. Internet drops out or you get the 'circle of doom' and freezing BBC iPlayer when trying to watch something! Not everyone has or wants internet / wifi / data.

Tommy D (@TomDennison12) reported@FractalDoctor @DailyMail TV and radio is all that many elderly people have for comfort, especially living on their own with limited mobility, so yes, taking away Freeview is a bad idea. I doubt if too many 80 to 90 year olds have a fast broadband connection !

However, BBC World Service is available in the UK on Freeview, so it's not as if you're paying for something you can't listen to, unlike when it was funded through taxation. Plus cable and satellite operators abroad also pay to carry it.

LDH Marketing (@LDHMarketing) reported@BENEFITS_NEWS It also eats up a lot of your broadband. No problem if you're on an unlimited package, but for people on cheaper, restricted usage packages, that will cost. Freely is good where reception is poor, but Freeview is still needed.

No **** Sherlock, why should we phone in when you can’t be bothered to put us on the RADIO - just in case you don’t understand, Freeview is not available to most people who are not at home! I am now thinking that it is after the rapture. Those of you seeking God would do well to watch SBN on Freeview 94 or elsewhere in the USA.
