Anyone else had shocking "customer service" from @giffgaff ? My wife is in tears trying to access her account after her phone was stolen and they won't let her access anything due to security?! For all we know someone is using her account. Shocking.

@craigy_xo @giffgaff There is no way to switch it off unfortunately, giffgaff have made it compulsory for all members. Not a problem for me but there have been an awful lot of posts in the giffgaff community from members who don't want it.

@MammothWhale Other providers will be the same, as they’ll rely on Openreach to actually configure the connection. A good temporary solution would be a VOXI or Giffgaff prepaid SIM card, and putting it in a cheap 4G router. You can get them on Amazon for about £60-70

@mattgreencomedy Afraid not. I'm on giffgaff, but I would recommend them. Their PAYG is quite pricey, but the goodybags are very cheap. The cheapest £6/month. That gives unlimited calls, texts & 1GB data. Excellent service & coverage (they run on the O2 network). £35 gives you unlimited data.
