Tosh&Piffle (@t__and__p) reported@thomasforth Hull's network was owned by the council. Due to an accident of history, it retained its local monopoly long after BT had to let others onto its network. As Oftel (sic) homed in, KCOM invested heavily in broadband technologies, to fend off BT and compete outside its area.

Bean. 🍇 (@HLJOHNO) reported@TheRealJamieKay Those phone boxes have been there for literal YEARS. We're talking pre-pandemic. Also they have been decorated by KCOM, not the council, because Hull FAMOUSLY has their own phone network/internet provider rather than using BT. Their phone boxes were originally white not red.

Gareth smith (@Gareth416) reported@KCOMhome Terrible service from KCOM, one of the most expensive providers in the Country and we are stuck with them in Hull. I bet we won't even be compensated for this mess, been off all day now and it's regularly dropping out.

Andy (@andyrobertshull) reported from City of Kingston upon Hull, England@KirstieMAllsopp We had this issue in Hull for a long time as historically we had Hull Telephones that eventually became KCOM. It's only in the last few years when the Government changed the law and we got hundreds of telephone poles from different companies that things have changed!
