This is embarrassing as we have contractors who want paying this afternoon and I need to either increase my Credit Card limit temporarily or have access to pay in some savings if he wants cash.

Those with no transport unable to access face to face banking because of closure of their local branch as not enough people use it as their regular branch. It's OK, I will drive 5 miles, what about those who can't?
