@Plusnet I'll call again tomorrow but claiming an error message "doesn't exist" when it's all over your community pages because your helpline guy "has never heard of it" gives zero confidence in your service. Hopefully I won't speak to a zombie then.

@supertanskiii Buy your own devolo wifi magic 2 power line adapters are really good you can clone it to your existing router or put you plusnet on modem mode only. Theres lots options out there. Will cost £90-130. But check if it's your download speeds going into your property are crap first?

@supertanskiii The current Plusnet routers are pretty OK. Made by Sagemcom. Similar to last generation BT. There are many excellent replacements available. You do need to clarify whether you have issues with the *Router bit" or the "WiFi bit". You can add a better WiFi AP to your Plusnet

@supertanskiii Ours was shite too. Kept loosing wi-Fi on all devices. Its a known issue that the device switches between 2.4 and 5 ghz depending on range but fails and drops the device. Spoke to Plusnet and they talked me through disabling 5 ghz. After that haven’t had any problem.

@supertanskiii Had slow Plusnet broadband AND poor WiFi distance. Bought an old BT router off eBay (as recommended on forums) for £6 two years ago and perfect. Never had a problem with things like watching streamed UHD etc. since.

@supertanskiii I’ve got Plusnet, and the WiFi on the router is poor (I just had a survey from them & I rated the WiFi as poor). I have put a couple of TP-Link WiFi access points in my flat to get better coverage, all hanging off the network ports on the Plusnet router!

@jdpoc Tell me about it! I used to do this kind of thing in my previous life. Retirement is fabulous! This was confirmed today when I went to help a friend with his dodgy network. Weirdest thing I ever saw - Plusnet and Openreach engineers flummoxed. Small, cheap WAP answering...
