@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I had the same problem with my mum and the Post Office landline. She was in a care home with dementia and the fkkrs would not budge. I had to get social services to write me a letter in the end.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK When my Dad died I took over speaking to the call handler because she just didn’t listen and kept asking Mum to put Dad on so they could speak to him. In the end I said “what part of dead don’t you get” I felt terrible for Mum.

@VodafoneUK @GeorgeMonbiot All customer-service staff should be trained to at least offer condolences when someone rings to say a relative has died - it makes a big difference. If the first response is simply "OK what's your account number?" it's insulting.

@VodafoneUK @debrakidd I'm going to get my parents onto a different network. Thanks for alerting me to this scam.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Not just Vodafone... when my father died I tried to cancel his home phone calls through the Post Office. They wrote to HIM to ask if I could act on his behalf 🙄

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Exactly. After a nightmare with Virginmedia I am now trying to cancel my mothers mobile phone account with O2. Not used for a least a year. Why we support these Companies and their shoddy service especially to older folk.

@TrudieMaxim @GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I did it to talk talks boss Dido Harding. Got her out of a meeting, but problem was solved two days later. This after 6 months trying to sort out the supply directly with Talk talk. No joy. Just look for the CEO of any company you have a problem with and drop them a nice note

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Had a similar issue with Sky a few years ago. They were charging my folks for ALL the channels/internet/phone. Acct in my mum's name. She had cancer and lost her voice. They wouldn't speak to my dad even when he explained why she was unable to speak.

@VodafoneUK @GeorgeMonbiot "Deepest condolences" but where are your profound apologies for the wholly unnecessary torture you have subjected George's father and wider family to? As said in this thread already, you need to publicly commit to ensuring this never happens again. We'll be waiting and watching!
