@VodafoneUK I've tried again, and it still says the system is down. Online chat is not working, I get past the first stage when I get passed onto the relevant team and it disconnects. Well over a week now.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK This is poor customer service I agree. However what I don’t understand is if this has taken so long why? Like most other things.A copy certified or otherwise of the death certficate to the company along with copy of POA for father at most is all that’s required they have to close

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Hi George. Just to put the case for getting it right. When my son died of cancer in February @ThreeUK cancelled the contract with immediate effect. Ceased his number but allowed me keep his device (with content intact) and no risk of it being locked. Perfect service 🌟

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I had no issues with Vodafone when I needed to cancel after my dad passed. In fact they were absolutely fantastic and very sympathetic. I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK When my Dad died I took over speaking to the call handler because she just didn’t listen and kept asking Mum to put Dad on so they could speak to him. In the end I said “what part of dead don’t you get” I felt terrible for Mum.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK The ignoring of a legal Power of Attorney is surely something that @OFCOM should be all over - poor poor Governance

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Exactly. After a nightmare with Virginmedia I am now trying to cancel my mothers mobile phone account with O2. Not used for a least a year. Why we support these Companies and their shoddy service especially to older folk.

@VodafoneUK @GeorgeMonbiot Garbage. Dumped you years ago, when during a months long effort to cancel a contract your own staff were calling each other liars and hanging up while I stood being ignored. This is just Standard Operating Practice and has been for years.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK It took me a year to finally be rid after my cancelled account was never fully cancelled adding a charge each month. Hours of calls every month until eventually I stopped trying, resulting in debt collectors who thankfully believed me & passed it back to Vodafone. Never again.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Every comment on this thread shows the contempt we are held in by these organisations. On the deaths of my parents I wrote a letter (remember them) as executor (with copy death cert.) to each one & stopped payments. I found I had few problems. Any that were I simply ignored.
