@Tanners_92 @VodafoneUK As you know, I'm with O2 myself, and I've never had an ounce of bother with them, even when I've had problems. But what Vodafone are doing there is reprehensible frankly. They've only made things right because they were called out publicly over it.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK It's seemingly standard business practice for any subscription model service, make it far too much effort to leave so you just pay. Its a seriously poor part of consumer rights that needs to be made much better. You should be able to cancel for any reason at any time

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK the lesson here is don't bother having contracts, the monthly pay as you deals are just as good if not better nowadays and you can dump them and move on if there's any hassle. The whole contract system benefits them not the customer.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Thank you for the warning. @VodafoneUK How utterly despicable. I’ll make sure to alert everyone I know to this shameful behaviour. When the bereaved really need support from caring companies, this is how the worst behave.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Awful story! I have to say that when my wife died 3 years ago I was impressed by how every company and government department I dealt with sorting out her affairs had dedicated "bereavement staff" who made everything very easy.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK Vodafone are a disgusting company. Had my own problems with them in the past. Hope they go bust.

And all this hassle because @VodafoneUK contacted me about switching to a full fibre service. I should have stayed on my existing connection.

@GeorgeMonbiot Dark humour aside, this is ridiculous. @VodafoneUK (the company not the poor people fielding the social media account - bless them) need to have a better policy on ending accounts when the account holder is deceased. Why can other places like banks etc do this but not them?

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I'm savvy and persistent enough to think I can sort most problems with incompetent phone and energy companies but I agree that it is vain to think that any one person can stand out against deliberate corporate fraud.
