If you mobile supports it fastest option is get an esim install and app and register and you have number with data, SMS and calls in minutes you'll find global guys and local guys worth doing some window shopping

All networks do this it's not new. Since you didn't have it in s phone the network didn't pick up a signal so it automatically thinks its inactive.
