@y_molodtsov @TrungTPhan AOL was a NY based company. For 15 years, owned by Verizon and Yahoo. I don't buy that it's suddenly more cool to work on now. It's still an incredibly poorly designed home page and a predatory subscription service with old people buying crap they don't need.

@PabloMakes If it’s like AOL used to be, you’ll need to tell it No/Cancel/unsubscribe like three times before it’ll let you.

Fun fact: My computer was so close to being able to not run the original EQ well that if I had anything else running, it would stutter and freeze up. When I had to use AOL for about 2 months, this was a problem because the AOL client had to be running and made EQ stutter.

We have been doing things on the internet since back when the internet first became a thing. We operated telnet systems for several years out of our Spare bedroom. Long before AOL even. It takes a special type of fool to think someone in Africa is going to help us grow.

  • credealjunkie
    Andrew Jeffery (@credealjunkie) reported

A couple live CRE underwriting tests using the three major LLMs: Q1: "Review this lease. Is it NNN, gross or something else?" (The gotcha here was a Prop 13 protection clause.) Grok 4.5 Expert: Nailed it (2:22 mins) Chat 5.6 Sol Pro: Nailed it (5:44mins) Claude Opus 5: Whiff (no time given) Not only did not Claude fail to pick up the exemption to a sale-related property tax increase, but specifically called out that on sale the buyer COULD benefit from a substantial property tax passthrough to the commercial tenant. Oops. (FWIW our attorney using an aol email address easily picked this up) Q2: "This month's PG&E bill was $5,800 - use this annual bar graph to estimate the full year's expense." Grok 4.5 Expert: $74,500 Chat 5.6 Sol Pro: $75,000 Claude Opus 5: $74,400 Very tight range - useful little hack since we sometimes don't get a full year's utility bills to underwrite, and have to eyeball off these sketchy bar charts. The moral of course is that these systems can be amazing, helpful, even indispensable underwriting tools - but can lead you astray if not used properly.

AOL chat rooms 1999-2000. Buddies and I would just show up and talk **** to people for no reason. Good times

@heyraven_io @WildComputers How much does the creation of a single tiny hat cost you in USD? How many of your users are paying for the service? You are the equivalent of AOL giving dial-up minutes at a loss in the name of "growth" or non-viable dot-coms burning tons of VC capital in the name of "growth".
