Before that you had Cap'n Crunches Crunchling Advanture which went absolutely hard and gave you some free AOL with it. But I do agree that games have gone down hill just as a whole since it became mainstream.

Never had AOL adress (not common in my country) and not used a checkbook, as by the time I was an adult (2000) it was not that common in my country anymore.
