Back in the mid 90s, I remember getting a million AOL AIM cd-rom’s. They’d just show up damn near weekly. Before we bought a computer I think. I remember moving from encyclopedias to CDs w trials on them. Eventually everything was free online. You had to convince folks to pay

Anyone in the dc area find 5G service to perform as described below: 4bars - lightening fast…super computer challenger. 3bars - equivalent to 3G circa 2014 2bars - am I hearing the aol dial up sound? 1bar - iPod touch. Is it just me?

@mocena Also same. A middle school friend was Extremely Online when that meant AOL chat rooms, and she got SO impatient with me bc of my slow typing, so I got the foundation from Mavis Beacon and the speed from AIM

  • IdenixH IdenixHunter (@IdenixH) reported

@Zzzakharoff I remember getting scared out of my 2000 shares of $MSFT at $17. It was actually the very bottom and I was part of the final capitulation. It never saw the low of $17 ever again. Biggest winners: I was super (low single digits) early on AOL , GILD, VRTX , MEDX , VRUS , IDIX

  • StormGryphon Storm Gryphon (@StormGryphon) reported

@EnnexTheFox I remember my parents buying our first computer in 1996. Had a HUGE 6GB hard drive. So big, "you'll never fill it" Plus a "wicked fast" 56k modem An Iomega ZiP drive And a 16x CDrom drive And, of course, the spankin new Windows 95. With a free trial of Aol... XD
